I've been on a writing roll today. Needed to put some James/Lily in there :')

THE FOREVER IMPOSSIBLE

James glanced at Lily, who was across the common room and then smirked. He was going to do it today. He was going to ask her out.

A noise from beside him snapped him out of his thoughts and he glared at Sirius. "What are you doing?" James asked in annoyance. "I'm getting ready to ask her out."

Sirius sniggered. "Right. You ask her out every day. Like today's going to be any different."

James ignored him and stood up. She glanced up at him from her book and sighed. "No, I will not go out with you, Potter," she said, before he had even reached where she was sitting.

James frowned and sat down next to her. "I haven't said anything to Snive- Snape for a whole week, Evans. I've been helping First Years out, and I've refrained from getting detention for a month. It's all for you, and you haven't even noticed."

She peered over the top of her book and closed it. "I have noticed," she said quietly. "And I've been thinking about it. I'm not ready to go out with you yet, but I'm definitely thinking about it. As long as you can keep up with your new attitude, then I promise we'll go out together for our next Hogsmeade visit."

James thought about this for a moment, and then his face cracked into a grin. "That's on Saturday," he said.

Lily blushed and nodded. "Yes, it is. See you then, Potter." James couldn't do anything but stare after her in awe as she walked away. She turned before stepping through the portrait hole. "I mean James."

Seven years, and he had finally done it. Lily was his. Life couldn't be better.
