Author's note: This fic was inspired by the song When She Loved Me from Toy Story 2, as sung by Sarah McLachlan. Needless to say, I don't own this song or Harry Potter. Yada, yada, disclaimer, disclaimer. Anyway, this is another Druna fic (surprise, surprise) and I will hopefully be updating it soon, unless I forget about it completely, in which case, I'm sorry. Enjoy.

When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful

With her life was a blissful daydream. Her very presence was enough to make reality seem iridescent.

As I shivered into my thick black cloak, huffing into the cold as we trudged along the gloomy path one particularly abysmal November, she stopped.

'Look Draco,' she breathed, her voice barely audible above the howling wind that was now insisting on whipping my hair directly into my eyes. I moved closer to see why she was staring at a pile of half melted slush. There was still no obvious reason, but this was Luna.

'It's a heap of slush' I responded, not making much effort to conceal my exasperation; it really was very cold.

'No look Draco, look how it's swirled with the dirt. It's a painting on the ground. See how it doesn't want to be alone? It took the earth and made it beautiful.'

I was quite used to trying to see the world the way she did but I still couldn't see how this was beautiful, it looked to me like the pristine snow had been marred by the intruding leaf mulch and soil. I sighed internally; the cold was biting and I couldn't help but think of the piping hot feast being devoured by our peers as we dawdled in the snow.

'Come on Luna, you're shivering too so stop pretending you are immune to the cold, no matter how beautiful it is.'

Wrapping my cloaked arm around her, I slowly guided her away from her muse and we walked together up to the castle, to the warm and to our shared favourite meal: pudding.
