Ichigo kicked the fence, scowling murderously. If the fence had been alive, the poor thing probably would have been halfway to America by then.

Kurosaki Ichigo was not in a good mood.

Hollow activity had been unusually high the last couple weeks, and he'd barely gotten any sleep. His father had been even more irritating than usual. Everyone had been more annoying than usual; even people he usually got along with had grated on his nerves.

Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew the real reason he was so edgy, but there was no way in hell he's ever admit it, even to himself.

His scowl deepened and he jerked open the gate and stalked through, slamming it behind him. He didn't bother locking it again.

He roamed restlessly down to the riverbank, tossed a few rocks, glared at the fish, and then wandered over to a tree. He slumped down at its foot, resting his head against its solid trunk. Exhaustion that he'd been ignoring suddenly flooding through him, he closed his eyes.

"Yo, asshole, what are you doing out here? I spent an hour looking for yah!"

Ichigo's eyes flew open as Abarai Renji dropping down into a crouch before him. "R-Renji?" He stammered, suddenly not feeling sleepy at all.

Renji smirked at him. "Naw, it's Yamamoto."

"Shut up!" Ichigo rolled his eyes, but couldn't stop a small, small smile from tugging at the corners of his lips. He reached forward and grabbed the front of Renji's shirt, tugging him forward. The shinigami put up no resistance, catching himself with one arm against the tree trunk. He grinned down at Ichigo.

Ichigo looked up at him, his eyes taking in the familiar face. "I meant, what are you doing here? You weren't supposed to be back for another couple weeks…"

Renji's grin widened. "Got leave earlier than I thought."

The tension that had plagued Ichigo since Renji had returned to Seireitei finally drained out of him, and he used the hands still fisted in Renji's shirt to jerk him down into a rough kiss.

Renji responded enthusiastically, hungrily pressing into the kiss, causing Ichigo to groan. When they finally were forced to break away, both gasping for air, Ichigo moved to Renji's neck, biting down on the tanned skin. Renji let out a sharp gasp, arching into him, and Ichigo grinned as he swirled his touch over the red mark. "It's about time." I missed you.

Renji growled and pushed him back forcefully against the tree, one hand making its way under Ichigo's shirt. His other hand slid under Ichigo's chin, and tilted his face up. Renji smirked at him, lust clear in his eyes, but Ichigo could also read the I missed you too written across his face. Warmth spread through his chest, and as Renji leaned down, Ichigo met him halfway. For the first time in weeks, Ichigo felt complete.
