Chocolate Covered Strawberries
This is everything she is. Sequel to "The Fairy Prince"
Story 9
The Goblin Queen
I usually try to avoid movies with dazzling creatures in them. But after living with four of them for some time, I got used to them. Desensitized, you could say.
Now here I was watching an American Movie called "Labyrinth" with Noi. When David Bowie came on set as the goblin king, I couldn't help but burst into amused laughter, not of delight, but more mocking. How can it not be mocking? He had wild hair and such, but for crying out loud! King of the Goblins? Him?
Don't make me laugh!
The movie ended and Noi was glaring at me. "What?" I asked.
"You laughed throughout the whole movie!"
"Sorry," I said. "It was funny. David Bowie could NEVER pull off being a goblin."
"He did alright."
"Sure…sure, that's what they all say. Goblins are supposed to be ugly creatures."
"You think you could have done better?"
"Well, in a way, I'm one of them: a creature of the dark should rule creatures of the dark. Is David Bowie a creature of the dark?"
Noi paused and thought this through; then shook her head. "You have a point there. In a way, you would be more suitable. But I don't believe that you are a creature of the dark, Sunako-chan."
"I'd still make a better Goblin Queen."
"I'll agree with you there," Noi said. "But only because you have the potential and the ability to be a goblin queen. Not because you look like a goblin. And, trust me on this one Sunako-chan, you look nothing like a goblin."
She packed up and went home. I had no idea what she was talking about: of course I look like a goblin. Otherwise, I couldn't be the Goblin Queen.
That damn Dazzling Creature, Kyouhei came in, looked at the dvd case and scoffed once before leaving me be.
"Hey!" I called at him. He turned around. "I'd make a better goblin queen, you think?"
"Of course you would," he said flatly, what's his problem? But he smirked. "But I'd be better."
"Ha!" I shouted. "You couldn't be a goblin king if you're already a fairy prince!"
He winced at that. Did he really hate being a fairy prince? "I'm more like you than you think." That said, he walked away into the kitchen, leaving me to wonder what he meant by his words.
How could someone like him be more like me? I decided that he was in denial and went upstairs. An old dream popped into my head and I shivered. After all, we already kissed. I never wanted to remember that time, our first kiss. Then our second kiss was even worse because I was actually conscious at the time, only to pass out after that.
"Bastard," I thought, entering my room. "He's no goblin."
Or was he? He did some annoying things before and he was more uncouth than the others. Maybe I was wrong about him being a fairy. But he was too beautiful to be a Goblin!
Did that matter? Well, one thing was certain: I was his enemy, the Goblin Queen. But sometimes, I loathe to admit it, sometimes I feel as though deep down, I know he's actually a goblin in the guise of a fairy.
AN: Lacrymosa-light, I have written one multichapter sunakyo story that is online called "Snow White Queen." Also, I am in the process of writing another sunakyo multichapter story called "Where White and Black Become Gray."
Everyone else who has been reading the Chocolate Covered Strawberries series, I am very grateful for your reviews. However, I do not intend to add other chapters to these stories. If there are anycliffhangers, they are not supposed to be there, and I will look into it.
Thank you guys!
