Chapter One
Hello fellow viewers! After a few one shots I decided to get back into writing another multi chapter story! Now I may be a little rusty, or way freaking better. Hopefully you all enjoy! I apologize for not being doubled space, it's not wanting to!
My books slammed upon the apartment table as I began to relieve myself of the long and torturous first day of college. I tossed my fuzzy winter coat upon the ugly floral couch and made my way to my small room. The kitchen, living room and bedroom were merely connected; the only thing between each room was a simple arch way. The sunlight reflected off the boring white walls that enclosed my apartment as I passed by my tiny bed. In a hurry I threw my bag upon it as I dashed to the bathroom to unleash the bottles of water I had drunk throughout the day.
The sound of water rushed throughout the apartment as I pressed the lever. I stopped at the mirror to give myself a quick look over. I tilted my head, tried getting a perfect gleam in my eyes, and gave a handsome smirk. I ended up failing horribly at my want to be model look. I laughed it off, pushed up my glasses, and adjusted my light green beanie. Now that I had most of my day cleared out I could finally relax.
I jump on my bed and felt the aching pain vanish from the bottom of my feet. I let out a long sigh, quite a dramatic one, as I tried to figure out what I'm going to do with my life. The random ponders of my life zoomed through my brain until it came to a halt. The one thing in my life that is the most depressing is the fact I barely have a social life, let alone a romantic life. I always watch these movies and they always have a happy ending, but do they not realize how much harder it really is? I mean come on they're always the same; boy meets girl, they fall in love, something dramatic happens and then it all results in a happy ending. It gets pretty boring after awhile but hey, some movies throw us for a twist! Boy meets boy or girl meets girl, ah, I can't wait for that boy moment.
I looked over to my clock to see vibrant numbers reading 2:47 with a little dot by the letters PM. My stomach howled ferociously as it threw a tantrum wanting food. I groaned while my body slowly folded up. I tossed my head into my hands shaking off or at least trying to, my tiredness. The wood floor made a soft sound as my socks muffled the palms of my feet. The floors let out squeaks as my weight landed upon the boards.
A suction cup sound emerged from the old fashion fridge as the door opened. The fridge lights were dulled out due to the immense sunlight amount of sunlight shining from my windows. This apartment is old fashion and just plain old but has its perks like the amazing view of the city. My stomach slowly looked for something to satisfy its needs as my eyes scouted through my fridge. The fridge was only half full so the choices were pretty limited. I dragged my hand on the middle shelf of the fridge as my mind gave a little yay or nay to a certain food. I took way longer than I should've but I ended up grasping for the metal pan that held some leftover chili.
The pan clang against the wood table in the middle of the kitchen as I set it down. As I reached for a plastic bowl I heard a stern knock on at door. My eyebrows rose in confusion for there was no expectation of a person. I made my way into the living room, to the front door. Through the peek hole in the door I could see a man with the logo "USP" his shirt. The bolt lock let out a clank as I slid it and swung the door open.
"Mr. Bolin?" The USP man questioned with a stern voice
"That's me!" I tried to breach some kind of peppiness in my voice
"Sign here please" He handed me a simple clipboard and pen, within a few second and a few scribbles I handed it back to him. In return he placed a medium sized box in front of me.
I towed the box in and immediately set it down on the living room carpet, the only room with it. I grabbed a little butter knife and slid it down the tape at the top. I gave a little tug on the top folds, snapping the tape the remained. My sights were filled by uniquely different pillows. The box contained two large pillows and four medium pillows, which look like pillows that would be placed on a couch.
I pulled one of the pillows out of the box and saw a note flutter to the floor. The words on the envelope read From Grandma, A little smirk formed at the corner of my mouth. My grandma would always send me random household items to help me settle into my apartment. I haven't been able to speak to my Grandma ever since I moved to the city.
I opened the envelope and pulled out a piece of paper that had words going from front to back. I began to read it, it spoke of things going on back at home, how my cousins are doing and how much they miss me and hope for my success.
"Love, Grandma" I read out loud as I folded the note up and placed it in the stash of the other notes. I looked at the lime green clock that hung above my couch and seen it was about 4'o clock. Since I got to Republic City, I haven't been able to explore it nor see the difference between the two cities. I averaged the time I'd need to start on my little amount of homework and decided now is my best chance to see the city. I went to my closet to find some nice clothes to adventure around in. The first thing that caught my eye was my light grey and light blue plaid shirt along with my brown and tan skinny jeans. I did a quick flex in the mirror to make sure I looked as cute as ever. I nodded my head in approval of my clothes and slipped on my black and white converse. I rushed to the living room, grabbed my winter coat and before I knew it, I was off to see this mysterious city.
Once I got down the stairs and pushed open the building doors, the frosty breath of winter consumed my warm breath. The clenched my arms as my body shivered recklessly. The temperature dropped harshly since the last time I was outside. I pulled my beanie down covering my ears and accidentally messed up my midnight black hair. Tension built as a tiny piece of hair fell to my eyes. I blew little blows on it only to get even more stressed. My eyes focused directly on it, I began fixing it until I accidentally bumped into another person.
My butt slammed into the ground and the other person lost their balance a little bit. Our eyes met and I felt something, something towards this person. Oh yeah it was anxiety, the man dusted off his suit, gave me a death glare and continued on his way to work. I recollected myself mentally and physically and continued walking down the sidewalk. My apartment lied in the outlines of the central city. The neighborhood was meant for the poor class or lower middle class.
My eyes gazed upon every tiny detail thing, the birds, the different color of cars, time elapsed and I ended up passing under a large bridge which led me into a different world. My heart raced as the magnificent buildings towered upon us. I entered the central area, the people were different, the environment was different and so was the aroma. It felt so weird, yet I feel so much enjoyment.
Every place I usually have to go is in the outlines of the city. I could see people out of the corner of my eye, looking at me with strange stares. Their eyebrows rose wondering what I was finding so fascinating, so eye-popping. My mind ventured off into the world of random thoughts, bringing me to remember I need to get groceries. I turned in different directions, my eyes swarming and trying to target a nearby stand. As my eyes veered, I caught a glimpse of a person hiding poorly and standing and staring in my direction. I decided to just let him stare, because as I looked in that general area I spotted a grocery stand. I squeezed my way through crowds of people getting off work as the town clock tower struck 5'o clock.
I approached the stand the stand to meet eyes with the person watching over it. His hair reflected the sunlight from the sun drifting off into the horizon.
"Welcome!" He greeted me with a glimmering white smile.
"Oh, Uh. Hi!" My words stumbled only to catch themselves.
"May I help you find something specific?" He squinted slightly "Are you new around here" He continued except another smile emerged from his plump lips.
"It's that obvious isn't it…?" I bit the bottom of my lip as it slightly quivered "Yeah, this is my first time in this area of Republic City, I just moved here recently." I blabbered into an unnecessary rant.
"That's awesome! I hope you're enjoying the view, because right now I definitely am… um I mean I definitely have." He scratched the back of his neck and hung his head down. I was confused at first, for I'm horrible at catching flirts or flirting in general.
"I totally love the view! It's beautiful, unique, and mystique!" I tried awkwardly flirting back but I think I may have failed, but my main objective wasn't to find a date, it was to find food. The chat grew silent as I looked through the variety of vegetables and fruits.
"So what made you move here?" He spoke cleaning off a cutting board behind him
"College most, but also I wanted to adventure more places than where I came from." My words were a little mumbled due to my hand covering my mouth as I went into a mental debate over which fruit to get.
"Soooo, do you have a name?" He shot out of nowhere as he began to chop up a lot of garlic.
"Well, um, I'm Bolin!" I could feel butterflies breaking out of their cocoons and flutter in my stomach
"Bolin, eh? That's a unique name, the handsome name fits you." He spoke with such casualty it was hard for me to flirt back. "My name is Wei Beifong" He gave me a shy smile.
"Well that name… Spunky." After I released that horrible flirt I could see his expression change into confusion. "Spunky?! Really, that's the best I could think of!?" I disciplined myself mentally.
"Nice try, at least you're trying." Although his back was too me, and May I say he has a fine back side, I could still tell he had that cute smirk on his face. "Y'know, you seem like a really cool person, Bolin, you're not the best at flirting but we can work on that" He let out a medium pitched laugh and immediately my heart melted. Is my life just turning into was of those simple, predictable and cliché romance movie?
"You think so?" I tilted my head like a dog with an adorable smirk. I've always had a hard time taking compliments and feeling safe in my own skin. I'm not used to someone actually liking me as a person.
"Yeah! We should hangout or DO something!" He put much emphasis on the do, my mind thought maybe he was meaning something else or maybe I'm just over thinking it.
"We should, you seem really cool as well, I just got to find a day I'm not busy." My words flew through the air like fireworks, I could feel myself getting excited.
"Alright consider it a date, I mean hangout." He turned towards me with rosy red cheeks as he corrected himself. Before I knew it the sun had just hid behind the horizon. The pink sky faded into obsidian black. I grabbed a few fruits vegetables and kindly paid him. "Hopefully I'll see you soon" He giggled with a manly essence and a wink. I gave a little wink back though I could feel my anxiety making a lump in my throat. I turned around to see the streets are filled with silence. I gave a playful salute to Wei and began making my way down the sidewalk. I walked maybe a minute or two before I forgot something.
"Hey you forgot to give me your- number…" My eyes scanned the stand to see a closed sign and no one there. I was curious how one can vanish that quickly, it was quite suspicious actually. Oh well, I parted my way and tried peering over buildings to find the bridge I entered from under. This place was spooky, I've seen enough horror films to know that I should look behind be a bit and look around corners. My walk became faster as I started to become more paranoid someone was going to sneak up on me. I turned to find the bridge right ahead of me, the red brick color illuminated as the bridge lights shined upon it. As my mind started to wonder off I realized how cold it was, by now it was maybe negative ten, with wind-chill. I looked behind me to make sure no one was tailing me, only to be socked with rapid speed. Everything went dark, my mind went silent and my heart skipped a beat.
Thank you all for reading this! I appreciate it so much! I shall continue this story as soon as possible! I hope everyone enjoyed this and don't forget to leave me a review or heck maybe even like and favorite it!
Bye!
