This is going to be my first one shot, and I really hope that you enjoy it! For anyone that personally knows me, this was taken from what happened today during school! Everything about the lock down and the police is correct information, but I did of course add a lot of drama for the characters. As ya'll can already tell, I ship Haloe like my life depends on it. *Two weeks earlier*

Hazel's P.O.V.

Leo had just told Hazel that he likes her. Hazel didn't understand how he could possibly like her. She's the girl that makes the cursed riches come out of the earth wherever she is. Regardless, Leo had claimed that he cared about her.

*One week later*

Leo has just been his normal self, so Hazel figured that he had just said that he liked her to mess with her. After all, Leo is known for never being serious. Hazel figured that it was better this way, at least she didn't have to constantly be trying to look good, or care what a person thought. "There," Hazel thought,"That's why he said that. Leo wanted to make me semiconscious." But deep down inside, Hazel knew that even this wasn't true.

*Present day*

Hazel always dreads going to literature. It bores her to tears; not really, but Hazel still hates it. In the classroom, instead of desks in this room, the school put tables in rather than desks. Each table would serve two people. There were three rows and three columns of three. In the first and second row, two people sat at each desk, but on the back row, only one person sat at each table. Hazel was one of the loners in the back.

Mrs. Webb began reading our daily topic, and asking for someone to take the stand to talk about it. For Hazel, the class had already felt like an eternity, but it had only been five minutes.

Mrs. Alley called over the intercom,"All teachers, we're on lock down. Repeat, lock down. Stay out of sight and stay quiet." At the beginning of the school year, each teacher teaches the students what to do during lock down, but it hadn't ever been serious before. Hazel went straight to the wall at the front where each student was meant to sit.

The first place Hazel tried to sit down at had a plug for the television, so she lat the plug sit on her left. On the other side of that plug, Rachel, Hazel's best, and possibly only friend, planted herself. Hazel was hoping that she wouldn't get stuck sitting beside someone like Percy. Hazel thought,"Sure, he's a great guy, but all of him just seems too good to be true."

Hazel didn't get stuck sitting beside Percy, instead she got stuck sitting beside Leo. In reality, Leo is one of Hazel's best friends, but she had been worrying that she would mess something up if they became serious.

All the kids where silent, the only noise being the ticking of a clock. They silence was so thick, it was almost maddening. Normally, the click on the wall is fairly quiet, but now, it felt as though someone where yelling with each movement of the hand. The few seconds turned into minutes. Being restless teenagers, the cheerleaders on the opposite side of the room began to talk.

Mrs. Webb tried to get them to at least whisper, which they did, but it began to get louder. Each student tried to get them to be quiet so that they wouldn't get killed, but Hazel knew that if someone where in the school, there would have already been gunshots fired.

Rachel asked for Hazel's hand, which she wasn't used to. Hazel was the cursed girl, the demon girl. Hazel wasn't about to let her friend be scared and not try to comfort her, so Hazel held onto her friend. When Hazel looked at Leo, he had his knees pulled up to his chest, just like Hazel did, but he was hugging himself. It looked like Leo was trying to make the smallest ball possible.

Leo's hand was twitching, as if asking for Hazel to hold it, but Hazel knew that this would have been a mistake. Hazel wanted to tell Leo that everything would be alright, and that nothing was going to happen to them, but the cheerleaders would spread so many rumors so quickly.

To her own surprise, Hazel wasn't the one to talk first, but Leo was. "What do you think's going on?"

Hazel tried her best to whisper,"I don't know, but it's not a drill."

Leo's eyes got wide, and he looked away. Hazel had never seen Leo do this, but it looked as though he were praying. "It's going to be ok! I promise," At this he smiled, and Hazel got this feeling inside her that she couldn't explain. She wanted to make sure Leo would be the one to live if something did happen. Hazel only wanted for Leo to get through the day, and into tomorrow.

Rachel began to whisper across the room to one of the cheerleaders. Hazel didn't want to be found if someone had gotten into the school because her friend couldn't shut up, so she signed."I love you, but shut up."

After Rachel signed back,"I love you too," Hazel turned to Leo. Leo was simply looking at Hazel smiling. His eyes seemed to be looking down, so Hazel thought the pervert was looking down her shirt. She hit Leo in the arm, and pulled up her shirt the best she could, but it shot back down, revealing a little sliver of her bra.

Leo's ears turned red and he shook his head so much, you would have thought that he had to in order to save his life. "No," Leo whispered as he pointed to a button on Hazel's jacket that rested on her arm. Why would he smile at a button on my arm? Hazel thought to herself. She moved on, but she made sure to keep her shirt pulled up.

Mrs. Webb whispered after looking at her phone,"The police are chasing a man around this area." That was all the information she would tell the class. Hazel was relieved, now she knew that no one had gotten into the school.

Leo looked at her and said,"I bet if we told the cheerleaders that it was a serial killer, they would scream." Hazel had to bite her lip in order not to laugh.

"You should tell them that he kills the most popular girls." Hazel replied, which made Leo laugh.

Hazel heard voices, which made her become stone cold. She strained to hear over the other children's voices. Leo seemed concerned, he must have not heard what Hazel had. In order for him to look away, Hazel flashed a forced smile. She still didn't accept the fact that Leo could like her. Hazel was that girl the others feared would ruin everything if she was involved.

After about an hour, the bell rang like normal for the students to go to the next class, but no one moved. Hazel was getting tired, so she rested her head against the wall behind her, and it rolled to face Leo. Leo mouthed,"I'm sorry,"

Hazel was shocked at this, he hadn't ever hurt her. Leo's only helped me, so why is he the one that's saying that he's sorry. I'm the one that should say that to everyone that I've ever met. Hazel thought. "What for?", she asked him.

"Everything." Leo replied. Leo you idiot! You're my best friend! Hazel wanted to yell at the boy, but she couldn't. Instead, Hazel remembered something she had told Leo to say instead of sorry.

"Purple elephants are banned." Purple elephants is what Hazel told Leo to say instead of 'I'm sorry'.

Leo laughed, and Hazel joined in, which earned a 'shh!' from Mrs. Webb. Hazel turned to Rachel, and found her saying,"I totally ship you two!" Hazel turned red, and wanted to crawl into the corner of the room opposite of them, just to be able to blush without anyone saying anything.

All Hazel could do was make a serious face and say,"Not happening." Hazel didn't say it because she didn't like Leo, she did, in a way. She rather thought that Leo would like one of the 'perfect' girls.

To escape Rachel's picking, Hazel turned to Leo, but that was a mistake. Leo looked at her and simply smiled. There was a boy named Nico that was sitting in front of Leo. Nico arched his back from having to sit without support for such a long time. Leo offered to move over and let Nico sit against the wall, but this only made Leo move closer to Hazel. Leo was so close, Hazel had to put her shoulder on top of his. "Well, this is cozy," Leo said, as he flashed Hazel a smile.

Hazel couldn't help but secretly love/hate that Leo was this close to her. She loved it, because she needed comfort herself, but she hated it, because she was worried that she would do something stupid. Which she did.

Having the worst timing ever, Hazel burped. She didn't let it out, but it could still be heard by the boy sitting next to her. Not knowing what else to do, Hazel curled into an even tighter ball, and buried her head in her arms. Leo put a hand on her shoulder, saying."It's alright. We are human." Hazel peaked her head out, and found Leo smiling at her.

"I just want you to know, if something happens, I love you." Leo whispered to Hazel. Hazel came out of her ball, leaned her head on Leo's shoulder.

Hazel whispered, "I love you too,"
