On the winter solstice, the Gods were in Council. They were in the throne room, which was situated in the Palace of Gods atop Mount Olympus. They were discussing a matter that they had not faced. Ever. They were in the middle of discussion when their sons or daughters, who were also known as 'demi-gods' entered. They were all perplexed as they had been summoned, which was rare. Behind them entered Chiron the Centaur, their activities director at Camp Half-Blood.
As soon as they entered, they stopped dead in their tracks. Percy began to feel dread pool in his stomach. The reason, well, the reason was the face of every God and Goddess in front of them. Their faces were marred with frowns and deep lines of worry, which they had last seen before the Battle.
Percy turned towards his father, Poseidon. Poseidon tried to give him a smile, which turned out to be a grimace.
Zeus turned towards Poseidon and gave him a vague motion, which by the looks of it, Poseidon understood. He stood up from his throne and started to pace up and down. He stopped and started to speak.
"Good evening to all. Thank you for coming at such a short notice."
Everyone could see that Poseidon was struggling to think of the right words to say. They saw that a determined glint entered His eyes. He once more turned towards them and said, "We have a problem."
"Wha-" Percy spluttered. "How come the Titans are up again? I thought they would be in Tartarus for a little while longer, maybe two or three millennia if we are lucky!"
Hades chuckled at the Percy's remark. "It's not Titan related, it's something else" Hades explained. "Though just as important or dangerous"
"Sit down all of you it will take time to tell of it." Zeus commanded.
"You see, even if we are Gods, there are some things that even we considered Myths and Legends. One of our Myths is of Olde Folk. People who had power's which made them mortal Gods. They could conjure anything, make Elixirs, sometimes someone would even become immortal, but by using some very, um... disturbing means. If they combined themselves, they could rival even us! Until now we thought they were Myths, but no, They are REAL!"
"Mortals, who have powers to rival us! Mortals, who have the power to command our own elements against US!"
By the end of it Zeus was breathing heavily and there was lighting cackling all over New York. He went and sat down on his throne heavily and put his heads between his hands.
The tension was so thick that you could have cut it with a knife.
Hermes trying to break the tension said, "Look at the bright side!" while smiling widely. Everyone looked at him and Zeus said, "Enlighten me."
"Well, um, you see-" He started to stare at the wall, trying to think of the bright side. His eyes suddenly brightened and he jumped and said, "I've got a hell of bright side"
With the look Zeus was giving him, he decided to elaborate.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am about to give you the greatest bright side of this situation. Never mind the Mortals who could oppose us and overthrow us if they wished. Never mind the Mortals who could become Immortals if they wanted. Never mind the Mortals who could hurt us by using our own Elements. Neve-"
"Dammit! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO TELL US THE BRIGHT SIDE NOT HADES'S ASS!" Athena thundered!
Hermes was hiding behind his throne and peeking.
"F-fn-i-ne!" He started to get up and once more stood proudly, albeit this time behind his throne.
"Here it is! The bright side of this whole bloody situation!"
He stood and wave his hand grandly and announced, "UNICORNS!"
