What are we?

The battle fell to an end as the pieces of Voldemort were defeated. 'Horcruxes be gone forever' as Neville put it, and the last was destroyed, which put an end to the war. Forever. Or so everyone thought.

Two war-stricken teenagers lay by the side of the burnt Whomping Willow, and one of them is in the other's embrace.

::::

Ron held her in his arms as his shirt was drenched and clinging to his body. The rain poured over them gently, getting rid of the remains of pain that were left on the grounds of Hogwarts. Blood was spilled; bodies spewed everywhere, and they mourn and relax over by the Tree as the water washed away over the cliffs and into the hollow ending below.

Her cries into his shirt were pain-filled, and he hated how she went through this. Ever since day 1 that they left Hogwarts to go search for horcruxes, he knew that he needed to protect her. It was utterly dramatic as how he left her alone and in despair when he was wearing one of them, and now he was back for her and Harry.

A month hadn't even passed by as they made it back to Hogwarts to finally rid of the darkness once and for all. And now all there was left was rain to drench everything and mourning from everyone. And that is how they were left the next day...

In each other's arms.

Ron looked down at her who caught her eye. Tears were remaining, and her face was a deadly pale. His hand raked through her wet curls, and the other held her back as a support to keep her up. All they did was stare at each other, and a few loose droplets of rain landed onto her cheeks. He reached out and pushed them away, and suddenly she spoke quietly.

"What are we, Ron?" she asked.

He looked down at her in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Well since the… err-kiss we shared, I had wondered what we were. Friends? Something... More?"

He looked to the clouds from a far distance away that were shining from flecks of sun hitting it. The rain slowly stopped, and he looked to her again, and gave her a half smile. Her hand that was tightened on his shirt was taken, and intertwined through his large one.

"'Mione…." He whispered, his smile inching to larger one, "Do you know how much I love you?"

She gasped. He loved her.

"So that kiss wasn't just a-?" she asked, but he interrupted her.

"'Heat in the moment' type thing? Never." He replied. And with a giggle and a smack of clothes sticking together, they kissed.

The kiss was a bit less of the one they shared a while ago. It was slow, and she sighed into his mouth. No moves to kiss harder, and no one to stop them, they kissed until they came up for air.

"I love you, 'Mione." He breathed, and he rested his forehead onto hers while he looked into her eyes.

A minute passed by in silence, and she spoke again, while shutting her eyes.

"I love you too." She whispered, and smiled.
