Aqualad was sitting on the couch in the main room of Titans East tower reading a book. Speedy had been watching him discreetly for the past half hour planning this joke and he was just waiting for the opportune moment to execute it. He watched as Aqualad put down the book and picked up the remote to turn on the television. This was his chance.
Speedy nonchalantly walked out from behind his hiding place, whistling a tune as he meandered over to Aqualad. He sat down on the couch next to the Atlantean and propped his feet up on the coffee table, sighing as he relaxed into the couch.
"Hey," Aqualad said without looking away from the TV.
"'Sup," Speedy responded. He leaned forward a little bit as Aqualad glanced over at him. Before Aqualad knew what was happening, Speedy suddenly had his face between the thumb and forefinger of his left hand squeezing his cheeks so his lips puckered and his eyes squinted.
"Speedy, what are you doing?" Aqualad mumbled around the way his lips were stuck.
"I was trying to see if you looked more like a fish this way." Speedy looked as though he were seriously scrutinizing Aqualad's face, but his eyes were smiling behind the mask. Aqualad raised an eyebrow, changing the look of his face slightly and making it difficult for Speedy to maintain his composure.
"And?" The question hung in the air as an evil smirk grew on Speedy's face that made Aqualad wish he had never asked.
Speedy moved so that both his hands were on either side of Aqualad's face squishing it and scrunched up his own face into the kind you would make towards a baby. Then, using his best baby voice, he said, "You're just the cutest wittle fishy I've ever seen! Yes you are!" Aqualad glared at Speedy while Speedy burst out laughing hysterically unable to contain himself any longer. "Hehehehe, such a cute little fish," Speedy barely could breath he was laughing so hard. "You should've seen your face."
Aqualad couldn't help it; he smiled at Speedy's raucous laughter. "It was pretty funny," he conceded, shaking his head and chuckling while Speedy's boisterous laughter continued.
"Hey guys, what's so funny," Bumblebee asked as she walked in the room.
"Nothing, you would've had to be here," Aqualad replied. Speedy was now wiping tears from his eyes, but he looked at Aqualad and nodded while catching his breath before busting out in laughter again. This would remain an inside joke between just the two of them.
