Calleigh Duquesne would like to think that she is a strong, independent woman. For some insane reason that would not be the case around this particular time of year., tt was Father's Day and she felt that for some reason she needed to prove herself worthy of her father's love. There was no doubt in her mind that she loved her father with everything she had, but for some reason she felt as if she always had to compete for that love.
After her parents divorced she distanced herself from her father. All of that was her mother's doing She never felt as if she was good enough for her father's love, it wasn't until after he remarried and how she watched him fawn over her step-sister that she felt she wasn 't good enough for her father's love. She tried and tried time and time again to prove herself beyond the shadow of a doubt that she was worthy of his love.
She did the best she could. She graduated second in her class in the academy and became the leading ballistics expert in South Miami. In her eyes, it just wasn't enough. She pushed herself to the brink to prove that she was worthy of the love that a father has for his oldest daughter. It wasn't until years later that he told her how extremely proud he had been to be her father.
This year was going to be different. She bought him a card that said exactly how she felt. She told she was proud to be his daughter and thanked him for being the only man she can count on in her life. As she watched him open his card she could swear that she saw the tears in his eyes as he read the words that he thought would never be said. Never in his life did he realize just how much his daughter needed him. It wasn't until this day that he realized just exactly how much he needed her.
