It took years of searching, time, money and resources but his efforts were finally worth. He had not seen her in over twenty years. Twenty years of despair flowed through Zuko's mind. But after all that he has done, all the mistakes he had made, all the things he regrets doing, he never once gave up hope. Hope was all that guided and it guided him to his destination.
Zuko walked through the forgotten village with fear. Fear that he would not recognize his own mother; Ursa after all these years. He walked up to a small house where a guard was standing. He was a fire-bender guard, but his uniform dated back to at least twenty-five years ago. Behind Zuko was Aang, who helped find Ursa.
The Two stopped just in front of the house. Zuko stood there for a good minute. Aang knew exactly what was going through Zuko's mind.
"I'll wait here," Aang said. "This is something you need to do alone."
"I don't know if I can," Zuko replied.
"Yes you can Zuko," he replied. "I know you. You've been through so much in your life. You can do this."
Zuko looked back at Aang then back at the house.
"Thank you Aang," he said.
"I'm here to see Ursa," Zuko said to the guard.
"One moment please," the guard said.
The guard went into the house. Within a minute he stepped out.
"You may enter," he said.
Zuko took a huge breath. He removed his twin sword from his side giving it to Aang. He waled forward into the house. The house was nice on the inside. Very roomy and comfy. He first did not see anything but then his attention was focused on the woman at the table. Zuko almost fell to his knees. The woman looked up and a tear fell down her face from her left eye. She stood up and began to walk to Zuko with an obvious limp in her right leg. Zuko practically ran up to his mother, pulling her into a tight embrace; tears flowing from both.
"I knew I'd find you," Zuko said tearfully.
"I never thought I'd see you again!," Ursa said, also tearfully.
