Summary: Oromis and Glaedr discuss Eragon and Arya's relationship and Eragon's future.
Just a Glimmer
Oromis sat at his window gazing out at the forest with a tranquil look on his face. Despite this apperance, his mind was running at a furious pace. Consumed with thoughts of Eragon.
Eragon has made when tangled mess of his relationship with Arya... Oromis mused to himself as he saw a bird pecking at the ground looking for food. He loves he with a passion I have scarcely seen before with a male and female. Still whether it is infatuation or love, I know not...
Glaedr looked at him with a giant golden eye, Eragon is young Oromis. It is the nature of the young to feel a necessity to be... sudden in their affections. Glaedr observed calmly. Oromis could sense him rolling it around in his head.
Oromis looked down at the parchment he had been trying to read. It was a very informative, if boring, report of current resources the Empire was consuming. He remembered Eragon trying to make a fairth and his intriging results. Still... the fairth of Arya had been alarming.
He sees Arya as a very wise woman... Observed Oromis as he gazed at the bluring words on the parchment. A shadow blocked the sun, causing him to look outside. Glaedr at shifted slightly so as to be looking more directly at him.
Arya is wise. Glaedr said to him, amusement in his voice, Eragon has seen and heard of all her wise choices and advice. He knows nothing of her folly... Glaedr curled his tail around himself more and raised the tip so it hovered under his massive chin. Looking like an old man pondering an age old mystery.
He sees Arya as exotic. Oromis countered to see what Glaedr would say in response to his new comment.
Compared to the woman in Carvahall... she must be exotic. All he ever saw was humans... he saw no elves or riders in order to see the diversity between beings. Glaedr commented.
Oromis sighed and put his hands down into his lap and crained his neck as he tried to release his tension. He was worrying too much over Eragon. He believes that her presences could destroy a lesser man... one that has less experience, like himself.
Glaedr let out a puff of smoke as he snorted in laughter, In the long run, Oromis, will it matter...? What is time to elves that find no end to life save through exhaustion. This his inheritance has granted him as well!
Glaedr gazed harder at Oromis as he continued, In a hundred years... what will Eragon have experienced. Afterall... he is the Varden's only KNOWN Dragonrider. They need him and will use him... in the end it may be that his fate has been irrevocably tied with that of the elven race.
Oromis grinned as he looked at the paper before him and then shifted it aside to reveal a second paper. It was a Poem that mimiced Elven Lays... it was on Eragon's experiences.
I look forward to seeing who Eragon Shadeslayer may be... if I can live long enough to see this glimmer become reality.
