Author's Note
This is just a cute little Lindir x Reader drabble I wrote for the imaginexhobbit blog on tumblr, and I decided to put it up here.
For those of you reading this who are reading Bereniel: I am SO SORRY I haven't updated for so long, but I am definetly NOT abandoning the story, it's just been a slow writing for me. I'm writing as much as I can for it, even if it's just a little a day. Lack of inspiration's been a real bitch lately, but I managed to force this out of my head for you all. Enjoy. :) ~Merry

You sighed, sitting behind a row of bushes in Imladris's gardens. It was Autumn, your favorite time of the year, and birds chirped and a breeze blew through the trees, scattering leaves across the winding stone pathways. The garden was nearly empty except for you.
Your attention was held rapt by the twig in your hand and the small drawing you were etching in the dirt, when you herd a small noise down the pathway. You looked up and a smile lit up your face at the pleasant surprise. A small animal played predator and prey, pouncing on leaves that had broken free. Curious, you stood, (h/c) strands of hair coming loose from its braid. The garden was lit up the with the sound of your laughter with the black kitten pounced on one of the leaves.
"Where did you come from?" you said, crouching down beside the young cat. You giggled when she tried to climb up the side of your dress. "Come now, don't do that!"
You had just pried him off when you could hear soft footsteps from behind. You turned.
"Oh- I-I'm so sorry! She got loose again." Lindir apologized.
"It definitely isn't a problem Lindir, she's adorable. Is she yours?"
"Yes." he blushed. You smiled. You'd known Lindir since you both were elflings, and he was your best friend, but lately you noticed he seemed to be avoiding you, and it made you concerned. You glanced down at the kitten that clung to the front of your dress.
"D-Do you want me to take her off you?" he stuttered over the words.
"If you want her, I wouldn't want her to get lost," you began to pry the small claws from the fabric. You laughed lightly when you finally handed the kitten over to your friend, who held her to his chest.
"What's her name?" you asked.
"Aeweniel."
"She's cute."
Lindir blushed, and stared at the ground. He's acting so strange, you thought.
"Um... Well, I-I guess I should go back..." he glanced back to the house.
"It seems so," you said. Before he could turn, you leaned forward on your toes and planted a kiss to his cheek, and turned back around just as quick, skipping away.
"See you this evening, Lindir!" you called back, turning again for a split second, and grinned when you saw the shade of red his face had become. You turned back around with a mischievous grin on your face and mirthful glint in your eyes.
"Ellyn..." you muttered.
