Forever - Too much to ask...?
Hi guys, Miyazaki again!
Okay so this was originally intended to be a one shot but i think i may turn it into a multi chapter story, depending on the feedback i get.
My first Asucaga fic, although I've been a fan of the pairing for quite some time and have read many great fanfictions about them.
Hope you like and without further ado, please read on (if you want to ^.^)
The beach...beautiful at this time of year.
Golden sand, a sky tinged with purples and pinks...
... and her favorite thing of all, that large expanse of water...The sea.
It went on for miles, further than the eye of natural and coordinator alike could see, maybe it was never ending, who knows...?
Maybe nobody ever would, know that is. She was satisfied not knowing for now, just sitting back and admiring the scenery.
Facts and figures, that would automatically remind her of him. He would always try to rationalize every theory or idea that she came up with.
The sea was beautiful, but the more that she thought about it, the more connections she would make with him.
Shoulder length blue hair, the exact same colour as the sea and the midnight sky combined. Emerald green eyes, the same colour as the scenery and the hues of green that the fading light cast onto the calm waters.
The pale moonlight playing along the surface, reminded her of alabaster skin, that she once loved and still did love so much.
The serenity of the location and the fact that she was alone reminded her of the way he was always the calm one in every situation. People had always commented that they were good together because they were polar opposites, he could deal with her agressive temper better than even her own brother.
Everything had been fine, the war at Jachin Due was over and he had been living with her in Orb. Her body guard. Although she hated the glasses that he wore, they were certainly embarrasing.
Yes everything had been fine before he defected to ZAFT. She had been so alone...
Then he had asked to meet with them at Gibralter, he had shouted at her, said that he detested her ideals and that the reason he was fighting for the other side was her.
He hadn't cared that she had cried, and she didn't cry a lot.
Then He'd come back again, to the Arch Angel - injured- and despite his harsh words she had stayed by his bedside. Then when he had woken up he had asked about Meyrin.
That had been when the remaining fragments of her heart shattered, her hope faded to nothingness.
He didn't love her anymore.
She had asked Meyrin to take care of him, given her the ring he had given her and asked her to give it back - too much of a coward to face him long enough to do it herself.
Then 2 months ago, she had recieved an invite to their wedding. She should have been expecting it really, the two had been together for nearly two years already.
That wedding was tonight, though why they chose to host it in Orb she would never know. It was as though they were trying to rub salt on the wound, make her feel as bad as possible.
The green dress that she was supposed to be wearing was back at the hotel, neatly layed on the bed so that it wouldn't get creased. Her shoes, neatly paired up on the floor beside it.
Her blond hair, now much longer than it had been at the end of the second war, was held up in a high ponytail and styled elaborately.
Her make up had been done to perfection, yet it was now marred by the fresh tear tracks that left crystaline trails down her face.
She once again turned to stare out towards the sea.
It was so calm, had no worrys in the world.
Maybe... she could be like that too...
That was an idea, to be one with the sea, the cerulean droplets that would surely cleanse her soul of any worrys.
She would start fresh
Without him
A new beginning
She took a step towards the place where the calm waters rippled against the smooth sand.
It was almost like the call of a siren that she couldn't resist
Slowly she drew closer and closer towards the waves
Before she knew it they were playfully tugging at her clothes, like sprites awaiting her entrance to another world were she was a goddess
She walked further out, this was the right decision, she would finally be at peace...
Now the water was up to her chin, covering her mouth... then her nose.
She couldn't breathe...
It was then that she started to struggle, she didn't want to die.
This wasn't her... she didn't give up over some text book romance gone wrong.
She attempted to swim back to the shore, it was then that she remembered...
...Hydrophobia...she couldn't swim.
It didn't stop her from trying though, she wasn't one to give up easily.
It was only when she felt a pair of strong arms around her that she gave up, let destiny take her now... it was too late for her.
That was the last thing that she remembered.
Meanwhile at the wedding reception -
"Shall we take this outside to the beach?" Athrun called over the noise of the guests.
It had become stuffy in the hall and he wanted some fresh air
They all converged out onto the beach, the evening was pleasently cool and Athrun smiled as he gazed out into the rolling waves...
Until he heard Meyrin say, "Is that somebody swimming out there? At this time of night when its this cold outside?"
Everybody turned to look in the direction she was pointing.
Athruns coordinator vision allowed him to see the fact that the person was not swimming but in fact battling the current.
Blond haired splayed out over the surface as the head once again dipped under the sparkling water.
Athrun didn't stop to think, he took off his shoes and ran into the water, she wasn't particularly far out and as he got closer he could see that the persons struggles were weakening.
His blue hair plastered to his face and green eyes alight with worry he moved faster towards the body, which was alreay 3/4 submerged.
Then he let out a gasp as the face turned to face him, eyes blank as though she was not seeing, but their usual golden brown.
It was Cagalli Yula Athha.
He stood frozen for a moment then seemed to remember the situation that she was currently in.
He dragged her back to shore and layed her down on the sand, a crowd began to gather as more and more people recognised her as the princess of Orb.
He checked her pulse, light, but there none the less.
Breathing...No.
He remembered telling somebody call an ambulance, as he stared down at the girl whose life was slipping away before his eyes.
The first person that he had ever truly loved... the one that he still loved.
He rode with her in the ambulance
But they wouldn't let him in when she was in surgery.
They handed him her belongings.
He slowly shifted through them... a wallet, a locket, a set of keys, a folded piece of paper and a soft toy among other things.
He opened the wallter, confirming her ID although he knew that he didn't have to.
He was about to close the wallet again when a picture caught his eye.
He lifted it to examine it closer
A little girl with golden eyes and light blue hair, there was a name and a date written on the back.
Cathryn Rena Athha - Born - CE 73 - March 15
Her... daughter?
He picked up the keys and found her adress in her wallet.
Is she was here then the child would be home alone right now
It didn't take him long to reach the Athha estate. It was dark although there was a lone light coming from inside the house.
Athrun let himself in. "Cathryn? I'm one of your mommie's friends, i need you to come with me so that i can take you to see her."
No sooner had he finished speaking, than the little girl emerged from the top a grand staircase.
She was a little bit older than in the picture, her hair styled slightly differently. She was in her pajamas.
She walked towards him hesitantly and he ushered her out of the house.
They took Cagalli's car this time as it had a booster seat in the back and for the whole drive Athrun continued to glance at the little girl through the mirror.
She reminded him slightly of himself, although the hair was a different colour.
When the arrived back at the hospital he was told that Cagalli was out of surgery and was awake.
Athrun hurried to the room which he'd been told she was in, scooping the litlle girl - who squealed in delight- into his arms to lessen the journey time.
As he entered the room she sat bolt upright in bed glancing from him to her daughter, looking more than a little bit frightened.
"So whos the lucky guy...?" He asked quietly, trying to get her to at least say something.
At first she didn't answer, then she mumbled something that he didn't didn't hear before passing him a piece of paper that was heavily creased.
It read:
Full name: Cathryn Rena Athha Zala
DOB: March 15 - CE 73
Mother: Cagalli Yula Athha
Father: Athrun Zala
Genetic type: Coordinator
It was a birth certificate, saying that the little girl now snuggled into her mothers arms was indeed his child.
He almost passed out from the shock.
"I have...a...D-Daughter?" He was almost afraid of what her answer would be but he knew that he had to ask.
She didn't answer but the slightest tilt of her head gave him the answer he was looking for but also dreading
That was when he really did black out, leaving the two females in the room staring at him in shock...
Dun Dun Dun... CLIFFHANGER! I know that was evil but i want to see if people like the idea before i write anymore.
