This is a little prequel - or more like a harbinger - to my soon-to-come multi-chaptered story about Hatori and his father (who both belong to Natsuki Takaya ;). I hope you enjoy it. English is not my native language, so please forgive my possible mistakes. The whole thing is so short I was ashamed to ask someone to beta-read. XD
Facts of Life
Dr. Sohma first counted his patient's pulse, then gently lifted his eyelid to see a small, terrified pupil staring fixedly back. Rather bewildered, he turned to a pair of teenage boys hovering nearby.
„Documentary movie, you say?"
The dark-haired boy – slightly taller and stockier than his delicate silver-headed companion - nodded quickly:
"Yes. About ocean fauna. Teacher said we would love it."
"And a great one it was, indeed!" exclaimed the other boy in a surprisingly booming voice, golden eyes shining excitedly. "Did you know that it's a seahorse male and not female who-"
The silver-haired boy went abruptly silent upon Dr. Sohma's stern gaze.
"Thank you. You may go now."
After the boys' rather hurried departure, Dr. Sohma spent a few minutes in awkward silence before clearing his throat and finally looking straight into his patient's ashen face.
"Son, I think we should talk."
