A/N: Because I refuse to acknowledge that Tonks and Remus died, this is an AU where they survive the war, Teddy is nearly 3 and Victoire is a little over 1 year old. Do enjoy!

Surprise, Surprise!

Remus tiptoed out of their bedroom, anxious to not awaken his sleeping wife. He hoped that she would be easier to surprise this year as opposed to the last one, which was something of a disaster. He'd felt endless sorrow and had furiously vowed to surprise Tonks with flair this year.

He picked up a sleeping Teddy from his crib and gently shook him awake. True to form, his son welcome the early dawn by screaming as loudly as he could and only a quick silencing charm from Remus prevented Tonks from waking up rather unceremoniously.

"Goodmorning! You're my sunshine aren't you?" Remus soothed Teddy as he fixed his son a breakfast of freshly mashed vegetables and tried to feed him. Teddy, however, seemed to have plans of his own.

"Dada, no!" He squealed, thrusting the bottle away from his mouth and pointing to a large stack of candy on the dining table instead.

"I want some!" He insisted and Remus cringed.

"Shh," he scolded gently, trying hard to at once pacify his wailing son as well as clear the kitchen. "It's your mama's birthday today; you have to be a good boy, okay?"

If Teddy understood, he did a poor job of proving it to his distraught father. Remus looked at the clock that hung above the little kitchen and swore softly.

"Darn it. They'll be here any minute. We have to…and then…" Muttering, Remus strapped Teddy into his little high chair and then pointed his wand towards the living room.

"Accio decorations!"

A large bag stuffed with colourful decorations of all sorts came flying at his face. Remus grinned like a madman as he emptied the bag on to the dining table. This was it. He was going to give his wife the brightest, most colourful birthday she'd ever had.

Seventeen minutes and two mugs of extremely strong coffee later, Remus had the dining room exploding with colour. He beamed with satisfaction as he heard the soft whooshes from the fireplace that indicated the arrival of their dear friends. Harry and Ron were the first to walk in and Remus could hardly see their faces behind the giant gift boxes they held.

"Harry, Ron! Welcome!" The boys hugged him warmly. "Where do we keep the presents, Remus?" Harry wanted to know. Remus looked around. "Er, I haven't really…" Ron interjected. "We'll find a small table of sorts and reserve it for presents, alright mate?"

More and more people walked in to the kitchen, and Remus was extremely glad to see Fleur and Bill take care of baby Teddy.

Suddenly, the buzzing of voices in the dining area grew still as they heard soft footsteps approaching the dining hall.

"Happy Birthday, Tonks!" Everybody yelled in unison.

Baby Victoire plodded into the dining room, all large eyes and innocent smile.

A voice screamed down at the gathering just then, disgruntled beyond measure.

"That's a fine way to be wishing me! Can't you lot wait for me to get there?"
