Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.
Note: Based off the scene in HP&HBP where McGonagall lights her wand to erase the death eaters' mark.
Her heart was unstable. The four stunners she was subjected to were nothing compare to this. It was pain but it was not. She supposed to was the shock. Although she knew this day would come. When true love was separated. After a whole lifetime she still didn't have enough memories.
She saw him lying on the ground Harry's tears dripping on his robes. The pain in one of her student's faces made her look away. What she saw was almost as heart wrenching. Above her dearest friends body was a dark mark.
Symbolic. Stupid. It must be erased. All she could think about was how he should not have to stare at the evil in this world anymore. Now was a time for him to find peace in his afterlife not see the floating mark.
Raising her wand above with a silent lumos all she could think about was how he always said to find the light in the darkness. How was she supposed to find the light when his was extinguished forever more?
You are strong, Minerva, far more than I am.
He must have lied when he whispered those words for she felt as if the stone façade she was wearing would dissolve into shambles.
When a love one dies shouldn't the ones who are left celebrate their life?
How could she celebrate life when he was no longer there? There was nothing to celebrate, to rejoice over, the only emotion she could find was grief.
Students raised their lit wands. Beams of light shot through the skull of smoke. It wisped away as if never there. But he was still there. Lying as if he was asleep.
"Students off to your dormitories." She commanded. The sight of the greatest wizard of the age should not be seen in such an intolerable state. The students filed out apparently in no mood to protest. She could only image what she would do if they even attempted.
Time passed. Minerva wasn't sure how long but at this point she didn't care. Time was never of essence unless it was against you. The time turner Hermione returned to her still sat in her office. If she could just turn it a few clicks..
No. Time was a dangerous thing to tamper with. As much as she wished she did not want to screw up the delicate fabric of it forever. Even if her husband lie dead on the ground where he should not have been.
Till death do us part.
She may have not been included in all of his plans. May not have been up to date on every thing her little mastermind had concocted. She knew he trust her. He trained her to take his place. He molded her into the character she was today. He knew she would protect the students and the school in any way possible. And she would live up to his expectations. Then one day when she had carried out all her duties she would join him and they would have a happy ending.
No Albus for we shall never part.
