Jo Winchester grins at the sound of the Impala pulling up in the driveway followed by a squeal from upstairs.

"Daddy!" Their six year old daughter, Annie, runs down the stairs, "Mommy, Daddy's home!" Jo follows her daughter out the door.

Dean sweeps up Annie is his arms as she giggles.

"I was still in pigtails when my Dad died, but I remember him coming home from a hunt. He'd burst through that door like, like Steve McQueen or something. And he'd sweep me up in his arms, and I'd breathe in that old leather jacket of his. And my Mom, who was sour and pissed from the minute he left, she started smiling again. And we were... we were a family. You wanna know why I want to do the job? For him. It's my way of being close to him. Now tell me what's wrong with that?"

Tears prick at Jo's eyes as she realized why this moment feels so familiar. She blinks them away as Dean comes over, but she knows that he saw them anyway. She kisses him before burying her head into his old leather jacket.

"Hey, Jo," he says her name as if it's something special, something that's so much more than a name.

"You're alive."

"Stuck with me."

"For now," she says it like a joke, but Dean hears the fear buried in her voice.

"Daddy!" Annie's voice is soft and excited, "Daddy I wanna show you somethin' inside!" The six year old grabbed her father's callused hand and led him inside, her pigtails swinging behind her.

She stopped in the kitchen, where she grabbed a paper off of the table and held it out to Dean. He laughed when he saw what it was. Annie had drawn a clown chasing Sam. She had even glued glitter on Sam.

"Can we send it to him?"

"I think he'd love it, Annie."

"Will it scare him?"

"Well, this is a pretty scary clown..."

"Good."

He laughed again, knowing that she was getting this from him.

At 1:56am, Jo shot up in bed. The first thing out of her mouth was, "Daddy!"

"Jo? Hey, hey, Jo, it's okay. It's fine. It was just a dream. You're okay. What was it?"

She was shaking and breathing heavily, and a tear slipped out of one eye before she could stop it. "My dad. I was thinking about him when- when-"

"When I came home."

She nodded. "It was just like when my Dad would come home from hunts. And I know hunting is your life and I couldn't ever ask you to stop-"

"You don't have to."

"Dean-"

"I don't want Annie to grow up like us. She doesn't deserve it."

"So you're just gonna walk away?"

"I won't go looking for trouble."

"What if trouble comes looking us?"

"We'll just have to kick it in the ass, then, won't we?"

"We sure are capable."

He laughed, "Goodnight, Jo," but she was already asleep. He held her for the rest if the night.

AN: I don't usually write fluff, so this probably stinks, but that's okay.
