Remember how in the other one it was the Nerd reflecting about the journey so far, now It's Mandi but she almost tells the Nerd about her using him as a marketing strategy. I might write more and make them interlink as a series. Since there's not too much about Mandi this was harder to write but you know what, It's a shitty drabble for a movie that I shouldn't really care about the romantic interest.
Mandi was a cunning business women, that much she knew already. She had big expectations put onto her and this was her first project that could make her a successful business lady. . From her years of working at Cockburn, she knew the way to win at the advertising game and that knowledge put her in the situation she was in now. She was playing to "gamer gurl" to get in the geeks she was hanging around with. She wasn't a gamer, she was only involved with advertising and the PR side of things.
Hell... the glasses weren't even real.
"He's just a nerd..." Mandi reminded herself after returning to her room for the rest of the night. She wanted to be successful and sell the E.T game so the whole "I'm one of the guys thing" was just an act... right?
As much as she didn't plan it, she was being pulled in a new direction by warming up to Cooper and the Nerd. At first, she only saw them as being as being cash and advertisment. Hell, if she could get the Nerd to review the game, that was sure to make the game a success, even if he liked it or not. However as events changed, she was beginning to see them both as friends. She was actually reluctant to leave the Nerd's room after a few video games, she could see why these nerds enjoyed video games.
"...What is wrong with me?"
She couldn't become attached to either of them but after what happened with the government... she found herself in company that she enjoyed. She was looking in the mirror, taking off the glasses that were perched on her nose. She was lying to them but she knew what would happen if she told them the truth about her and the company. They'd hate her, especially Nerd since he's who she's mainly using. She'd be told to go home and not nicely either.
But what if they found out along the way? She was fighting between two sides... one who was a cunning and clever business women and one who sorta cared about these geeks. What was she to do? Tell them now that she was only doing this as a marketing strategy or take it as it comes.
"...I'm going to hate myself for this..." She grumbled as she left the glasses off to do what she knew she had to do. She would wake up Nerd and tell him everything. Did she expect him to understand? No. She knew he'd be angry at her for using him as a marketing strategy but if she could explain that this has all been a learning point for her... maybe he might understand.
Well, that was good enough for her anyway. She went to the door to head over to his room in hopes that he might still be awake. She tried to plan out what she was going to say to him but she just couldn't think of something that sounded right "Hey so um... I used you to sell my game but you're actually a pretty cool guy and the world is in danger so no hard feelings?"
She stopped at his door but couldn't find it in her to open it and wake him up. She saw him earlier, distressed and confused as this wasn't an average day to day thing for him. She couldn't do that to him... she didn't want to do that to him because she cared about him.
"..."
She turned a heel to return back. Tomorrow It was back to the landfill with the military on their tail so she'd need to sleep early so they could head out early. If what Zandor said is true then there was a lot more on the line than just her friendship. She could act it out longer, play the gamer gurl just so they can move along swiftly. She could hold up longer...right?
