Chapter 1: A New Student
Remus sighed. He was alone in the common room. It was a Saturday, and all of his friends, were on dates. James was out with Lily, and Sirius was with his date of the week, at Hogsmeade. God, even Peter had a date. Peter, of all people! But it seemed that none of the girls of Hogwarts liked Remus, because he was overshadowed by his friends. And even if a girl did like him, if she ever found out what he really was, it would be over.
Just when Remus was about to go sulk in his dorm, the door to the common room opened. In stumbled the most beautiful girl he had ever see. She had long black hair, and the big brown eyes. She was dragging behind her a beaten-up brown trunk, and the robes she had on were worn. Similar to Remus' own. Then she started speaking to him: "Hi, I'm Emilija. I just transferred here from Canada. Are you by any chance Remus Lupin?" Startled that this beautiful girl was talking to him, he managed to choke out a yes. "Oh good.", she replied. "Professor Dumbledore said I could find you here. He said you would be a good person to show me around."
Remus nodded, still looking dumbstruck. He kicked himself mentally. He was here with the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, and all he could manage to do was give one word answers and nod. This had to be fixed. "So, which part of Hogwarts do you want to see first?" Emilija seemed relieved that he could actually speak in full sentences. "I think I'd like to see my dorm room first, if that's all right. I don't really want to lug this ugly suitcase everywhere." Remus started to nod, then shook his head. "I can't get up the stairs, but all you have to do is go up the first 3 flights of stairs, and it's the first door to the left." Emilija smiled, a mischievous look on her face, one that Remus had seen on the faces of his friends one too many times. "What?", he asked. "Nothing. I was just wondering, if guys can't get up the stairs, then how do you know exactly where my dorm is?" Remus realized his mistake and tried to stammer out a response. "Well.. I...common knowledge... my friends..." Emilija laughed and cut him off. "I think I get it. You have friends that figured out a way around the rule?" Remus nodded. "These wouldn't happen to be the famous Marauders that Lily told me about, would they?" "Lily? How did... Oh... You're related to Lily aren't you?" Emilija nodded. "Yes, and she told me all about the Marauders and their silly nicknames. I'm guessing you're Moony, right?" "Yes, but how did you-" Remus started to ask before he was cut off by Emilija once again. "Well, Lily told me that she likes James - Prongs, so I figured that she's out with him. I heard that Sirius - Padfoot is a ladies man, with a different girlfriend every week, and Wormtail- Peter's constantly following you guys around. So, that leaves you." Remus looked disappointed. She knew all of the good, well maybe not THAT good, details about his friends. He was just the leftover one again. "Right, well I suppose you want to go to your dorm." "Yeah, I probably should. And Remus?" "Yeah?" "I knew that you were Moony right off, because Lily told me that you're the inquisitive one, the sweet one. And that you have the most adorable brown eyes." Remus smiled, maybe she actually saw HIM, not just the people he hung around with. "So, when you come back downstairs I can give you the grand tour." Emilija smiled and said "Ok. Looking forward to it."
