A glowing beneath him, in the back of the ship caught Riddick's attention. He slid over the conduits, dropping through a hole in the ceiling and stared at the long tube. A cryo-tube, made for children and sleepers; never long-distance. The tube's glass casing was darkened, with a halo of bluish light piercing between the lid and bottom. Riddick reached up, slowly pulling the black goggles up onto his head, revealing the blue glowing orbs of his eyes. He reached for the code panel, tapping out a simple annex code, the black of the tint slowly fading away to reveal the tube's contents.
The girl in the sleep tube was deep in her dreams, shifting every now and again but never waking, even at the harsh stare of the convict down at her. He noticed the glint of metal on her wrist, hip, and legs; the girl concealed deadly if not multiple tiny weapons all over her body, and he was guessing she knew exactly how to use them. A small scroll-link was cradled next to the girl's body; a seal lock kept its contents secret. Riddick reached down, typing out a code on the tube's locking mech, and the container hissed as the seal evaporated. Quiet now, he lifted the lid until it fell back on its hinges. The girl still slept deeply, her breathing even and shallow as the man reached for the scroll. Her grip around the thing was strong for such a small child, but he managed to get it away from her without forcing her hand open, and gently he closed the tube back, the auto-seal gluing itself back into place as he leaned back against the tube, looking down at the scroll he held in his hands.
It took a minute, but Riddick finally figured the code, and the seal snapped open as he pulled the scroll wheels apart, and scanned the lines of tint code and words scripted across the page.
Riddick
God, how do I say this? How do I say anything to you? I always looked up to you, and you left me. Why? What did I do? Do you know what I went through trying to find you? Yeah, I guess you do. Cause if you're reading this it means that I'm probably dead, and you've saved the world again. Necros, right? Huh, should've figured. You always were that type, though you tried to deny it. It's in your blood. You're so cold on the outside, but inside …inside you don't forget do you? You never forget.
Take care of her, wouldja? Just make sure she stays alive long enough to live. After that, she'll probably come after you or something, join up with some mercs like me. Yeah, she's mine. She's just a baby now, so don't hurt her okay? I taught her some stuff, others I just programmed into her sequencing. I think she got some of you offa me. She's good, I'll give her that. I didn't give her a name, figured you'd be able to do that at least. If you stuck around long enough. Teach her, like you taught me.
Jack.
The scroll slipped through his fingers, snapping close and resealing. A slight moan made him turn around and watch the tiny girl slowly wake up, stretching, pressing her legs and arms against the sides of the tube. She blinked a little when she opened her eyes, before turning her head and looking up into the glowing stare of the man standing over her familiar bed.
"Rid-dick."
