It is the moment of truth between Shinichi Kudo (who is now permanently back as himself after capturing all the members of Black Organization and Ai Haibara discovering the antidote that makes both of them return to normal) and Ran Mori. Both are silently sitting on the sofa, and after what seems to be a hundred years (but only several minutes in reality), Ran decided to break the silence.
Ran: (looking at Shinichi with hurt shown all over her face) Why didn't you tell me the truth?
Shinichi: I have no choice…
Ran: You have the choice! You've been living with me and dad as Conan ever since, you should have told us!
Shinichi: And what? Put your lives to danger?
Ran: It's a lot better to be in danger than to be a fool waiting for someone who is just beside her all the time! ( bursting into tears)
Shinichi: (looking directly to Ran's eyes) I'm sorry for hurting your feelings, Ran. That's
the least thing I can do for now. Truly, I just want to protect you. I love you more than anything in this world, Ran.
Ran: (sobbing) Somehow, I don't know if I can still believe that, Shinichi. I'm so confused right now, I felt betrayed, and I don't know if I can ever trust you again or treat you even just as a friend after all of these things. Sayonara, Shinichi…. (Ran stands up, looks at Shinichi for a while, and reaches the knob of the door. The door slowly closes after Ran left, but you can catch a glimpse of Shinichi's sad face before the door finally closes)…….
