Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Thomas to the Rescue" from Season 8, with added lines by tate310. Enjoy and comment.
It was a very busy day on the Island of Sodor. All the engines, both Steamies and diesels, were working hard.
Sir Topham Hatt came to see Thomas.
"The quarry has an important order to fill." said Sir Topham Hatt. "I need you to go there right away."
"Yes sir!" said Thomas and he puffed away.
When Thomas arrived at the quarry, he received a nasty surprise. Diesel was there, and he wasn't happy to see Thomas at all.
"It's a stupid Steamie." oiled Diesel. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to help Mavis!" puffed Thomas proudly.
"Steamies can't work as hard as us diesels!"
"That's not true!" said Thomas crossly as he set off to work at once.
But Diesel was soon up to his old tricks.
First, he shunted Thomas under the hopper, covering him in stones!
"Cinders and ashes!" sputtered Thomas.
Then, Thomas let of steam. Diesel didn't like this at all.
"What a stinky steam engine!" said Diesel.
"How rude!" exclaimed Thomas.
"No wonder Sir Topham Hatt wants to scrap Steamies!"
"I don't believe you!" huffed Thomas, who was now upset.
That night, instead of returning to Tidmouth Sheds, Thomas stayed at the quarry.
But he couldn't sleep.
"What if Diesel is right?" asked Thomas sadly. "What if Sir Topham Hatt scraps all of us?"
Thomas was worried.
The next day, Salty arrived.
"Hello there, me hearties!" he called. "I have fresh diesel fuel from the mainland!"
After Diesel was refueled, he started to go faster and faster.
"This new fuel makes my axles tingle!" laughed Diesel.
"Coal doesn't make my axles tingle." sighed Thomas. "I wish I could have fresh fuel!"
Even Mavis liked the new fuel.
"Oh my!" she said.
Thomas was feeling left out.
Soon Diesel began showing off.
"I'm the fastest engine in the world!" he boasted.
Then, he took off at warp speed!
Suddenly, Diesel's engine coughed, then it began to sputter! Black smoke soon filled the air.
"I feel sick!" wailed Diesel.
Soon, Mavis's engine began to sputter and let out black smoke as too!
"So do I!" she groaned.
The quarry manager was surprised.
"The new fuel must be causing this!" he cried. "Water must have leaked into your tanks!"
Soon, all the other diesels had broken down.
Sir Topham Hatt telephoned the quarry manager.
"We must get new fuel for the diesels." he said. "Send Thomas to collect it!"
The quarry manager came to see Thomas.
"You must collect fresh diesel from the fuel depot!"
"Right away sir!" whistled Thomas as he steamed away.
Soon, Thomas arrived at the fuel depot.
"Give me all the clean diesel you got!" cried Thomas. "This is an emergency!"
"We'll soon have you loaded!" said the workmen.
Thomas was soon loaded with freight cars full of oil tankers.
The oil tankers were very heavy, so Thomas puffed as hard as he could back to the quarry!
All the diesels were very pleased.
"Marvelous!" said Diesel.
"Thank you Thomas!" said Mavis.
Soon, all the Diesels were back at work, and all the work was soon done!
Sir Topham Hatt arrived on board Percy. He was very pleased.
"Well done Thomas!" he boomed. "You have saved the day! You are a really useful engine and a credit to the railway!"
"Thank you sir!" puffed Thomas.
And even Diesel had to admit that Thomas was special, even though he was a Steamie.
