Hey, this is my first ever ZADR so be gentle. I'm no fan of it or anything, but the hopeless romantic in me had to write SOMETHING. So here I go!

This was taken directly from my deviantart thingy.

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

"Zim look out!"

"COUNTDOWN. IN 5... 4... 3... 2...1" SELF. DESTRUCT IN PROGRESS"

Running...

"INTRUDER ALERT!"

No time for that now...

"What are you DOIIIAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGCK!"

Slicing throats, slipping in blood...

"Dib-stink! Behiiind youuuuu!"

Gotta help him...

Spinning, confusion, pain, colors, light and sounds, all swirled into one big, white noise. Something hit Dib in the head and he blacked out.

When he came to, the first thing he saw was Zim.

They had both infiltrated The Massive nearly a week ago in the hopes of learning WHY The Tallest had lied to him and set him to Earth. So far, they had had no luck.

Until yesterday.

It had been before this whole... massacre. Something Dib had never hoped for.

They had been hiding behind a wall, eavesdropping as usual, and overheard the REAL reason.

"They... really hate Zim so much?"

And then the battle, the fighting, all the blood, the lasers, the maimbots... he still had no idea how they had got through it all. If it hadn't been for GIR and Zim's alien weaponry, he might be dead.

TheTallest had HATED Zim, had LIED to be rid of him, had tried sending him to a planet on the edge of the known universe that wasn't supposed to exist... His people laughed behind his back, his own leaders never spared him so much as a hello... or a thank you for the undying worship, for that matter. It was sickening even to HIM.

And he knew how it felt... to be singled out and thought of as insane, to be hated by all, to be shunned.

But none of it mattered now. The Tallest were dead. The Armada had fallen. All around them, dead or worse than dead Irken soldiers lay broken and bleeding green.

Dib felt a tear in his eye and hastily wiped it away. If these had been human, he would have ran and hid. Humans had families and loved ones and friends to leave behind... the Irkens had a job and a duty, that was all.

Or was it?

He looked up and noticed Zim staring at him, his antennae drooping and covered in green blood like the rest of him, his uniform tattered and dirty, his gloves torn off in the fight. One of his fingers looked broken. He looked so pitiful. And the look on his face... Dib had never thought of Zim as someone with feelings before... he had foolishly consided the human race superior without a thought to Zim... how did that make him any better than the Tallest?

And the look on his face was heartbreaking.

Dib got to his feet and approached the little Irken.

"Zim... I'm sorry," he said, because he couldn't think of something else to say.

"Look at GIR," he said quietly, his voice trembling. In his arms he held the remains of his insane little robot.

Dib knocked the broken servant out of Zim's hands and offered him a hug, a human gesture. Nonetheless, Zim took it.

They couldn't help it. They wept. And as Dib started to say something in regards to his fallen species, he felt a gentle kiss on the back of his head.

"I'm sorry, too, Dib monkey."
