This is what Fleur remembers:
She remembers the smell of damp earth and the feeling of roots, of dirt, of branches and leaves, swallowing her. Choking her.
She remembers the feeling that the world was coming to an end atop her, devouring her, and her body tingled and was numb all that once. She remembers how her screams stuck in her throat, how her limbs refused to move and how she was certain, absolutely certain she was going to die, buried alive (years later she still wakes screaming, pulling at blankets, trying to break free from Bill's arms, gasping for air—there is never enough air in her nightmares. Years later Fleur will refuse her daughter when she is asked to play in the cupboard under the stairs, in the lightless pantry. She will forever evade small, dark places.).
It is only later that she learns that it was Viktor who attacked her, that it was Harry who saved her. It is only later, after she is the first to see that Cedric is not moving—after she is the first to scream in terror at the sight of his blinded eyes staring forever upward—that she learns the maze was not left unsatisfied when she was removed from the earth.
