A/N: A little out of my comfort zone with this one, but it's cute so I thought I'd post it. Ya'll know the drill.

Better Than Studying

She waited impatiently for the common room to clear of its cloud of studious, and not so studious, in habitants. She was thought to be the most studious person in the school, let alone her single house. But Hermonie Granger had a secret, and a very muggle secret at that. You see, everyone believed that Hermonie was the last one out of the common room every night because she was working or studying. The truth of the matter was a little more simplistic and quite embarrassing in her mind.

For seven long years this secret had been safe, even from her very best friends. She certainly wasn't going to risk discovery NOW just weeks away from her N.E.W.T.s despite her impatience.

Finally, the last fifth year studying for their O.W.L.s was climbing the staircase to the dormatories. She held her breath listening for the door to close on the younger student's sleeping chamber. A faint "click" and the door was shut.

Hermonie's hands imediently flew to her bag and grasped a seemingly innocious workbook while she drew her wand from her sleeve. A quick revealing charm slipped from her lips and the seemingly dry advanced potions workbook revealed beneath its creased covers: her secret.

A kitten and a ball of yarn stared up at her from the desk in bold black lines and off-white, slightly textured spaces. Another quick charm and what seemed to be an ordinary box of wizarding sugar quills unmasked themselves to be not so wizardly after all. In their place lay wax cylinders of rainbow hues with worn paper wrappers incasing them.

Yes, Hermonie granger had a secret all right. A secret addiction beyond all those hidden by her housemates in her eyes. She checked once more to be sure the coast was clear and then finally flipped open the coloring book and reached for a crayon. This was MUCH better than studying.
