The Thoughts of Albus Dumbledore

This fic is about whatever Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore might have thought at specific moments of the books.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

I knew the magical protection would have destroyed Quirrell. I could have stopped him myself but it was important Harry had a chance to see how evil Voldemort is.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

I could tell Harry was lying when he told me he had no idea about who opened the Chamber. However, as the only Parselmouth other than Tom, Harry was the only one who could open it so I thought it better let him act on his own.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I could have convinced Black to see Pensieve memories of the students and of Sirius Black at the Shrieking Shack. I could have convinced Fudge to administer Veritaserum to Sirius Black. Merlin, I could have even convinced the Ministry to give Sirius a trial under Veritaserum so he'd be proven as the innocent man I already suspected him to be but then Harry wouldn't live with the Dursleys and that was necessary to protect him against Voldemort.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Thanks to Severus showing the new glow of his Dark Mark I knew Voldemort was preparing his comeback. He obviously lost any hope of using the Philosopher's Stone so he intends to use a spell that requires blood of an enemy to become full corporeal again and doesn't know the full implications of it, including the fact Harry will be able to survive another Killing Curse from him, which will be vital for the Light if I'm right, and I usually am, about Harry only being a Parseltongue because Voldemort accidentally and unknowingly turned him into a Horcrux.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I could have let that Killing Curse from Voldemort hit Harry so he could lose that soul fragment without dying but then Harry wouldn't be a Parselmouth anymore and he will need the ability in order to open Salazar Slytherin's locket, which I'm sure it's another Horcrux. If at least we had already found it. As it is, it was a good thing I blocked the curse with that broken statue.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I could have asked Severus something that would keep him too busy to be at Spinner's End when Narcissa and Bellatrix went there to ask him to assist Draco but I knew it was just a matter of time until either the curse, Draco or Severus had to kill me and the Unbreakable Vow made it easier for Severus.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

From my position as a portrait, watching Severus risking his life for Lily, I recognize it was a good thing I didn't dissuade him from ever becoming a death eater in the first place or the Order would never have such a good spy.

That's what I believe Dumbledore might have thought. Please Review.
