I did this poem for an assignment in Language Arts and got full marks. I wanted to share it with you. This is what poetry is like.

A Lesson Learned:

By Logic9994

A negligent boy was walking 'round

When, lo! He saw a little hound.

Pallid and weak, tired and hurt,

Very nearly quite inert.

Embodying pride, the boy did say,

"Leave me, dog! Away, Away!"

As reciprocal for this,

Something crucial went amiss

Missing his footing, the boy, he fell,

Into the abyss of a deep, dark well.

"Let me out!" the boy did say,

"Or all of you shall surely pay!"

"Not a chance!" The neighbors said.

The boy replied, "I'm surely dead!"

He did not die, but ate the dregs

Of his neighbor's bacon, toast and eggs.

Oblivion did not take the lad.

Quite the opposite; he had

A parable about him told

With a message as precious as any gold.

Do not keep your head too high, so you can see

The path that stands in front of thee.
