"Goddamit Ron! I CANNOT believe you!" Hermione yelled.

"'Mione, I don't need this from you, lis -" Ron began.

"No Ron! You listen! Did you even LIKE Lavender when you asked her out?"

"Of course I liked her!"

"Have you even stopped to think about what you're doing? Ron she was like your millionth girlfriend this month?"

"Fifth!"

"You can't go breaking people's hearts like that Ron." She said, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Herm. . . What's wrong? Why are you crying?" He said, all his problems forgotten as he moved closer to her.

"I-I'm not crying." The Gryffindor girl said, burying her face in her hands. "I have a cold." She offered pathetically.

"Common, tell me what's wrong, I can't stand to see you like this!"

"Don't say that!" Hermione whispered angrily, looking up. "If you really felt that way you wouldn't . . ." She trailed off.

"What? What is it? What did I do?" Her close friend of five years asked concerned.

Ron brought his hand up to her face, lifting her chin.

"Hermione tell me what's going on."

"Ron! How blind can you be?!" she said pleadingly as she looked into his eyes. "I love you!" She said, but she didn't pause for a reaction. "Every time you get a new one of these girlfriends you break my heart! And just when I convince myself that with her you'll be happy - because if you're happy then I can deal with it, I can deal with this - but you go and break up with her! It's a living nightmare Ron!"

"No you don't." He said, determinedly.

"What?" Hermione asked, frowning.

"You don't love me." He said again, looking away and bit his lip.

"Look, Ron, I know this isn't something you want to hear, but you can't tell me how I feel. This is something you can't control. I'm sorry." She responded, fresh tears sliding down her cheeks.

"No Hermione. You don't love me." Ron said, letting out a mirthless laugh, "You can't love me you see! Because I love you way too much. I love you enough for the both of us, so you can't return my love. Things like that don't happen to me, they happen to Harry. Not me. You've got the wrong guy Hermione." The boy babbled hysterically.

"Ron. . ." Hermione began.

"No, didn't you hear a word I said?" Ron said backing away.

"RON! SHUT UP!" He was immediately quiet. "You complete and utter fool! You are so incredibly adorable." She said before swinging her arms around his neck.

"Do you really love me?" He asked shyly after a while.

"So very much." She whispered into his ear. He grinned.

"You know, I was planning on keeping this a secret from you forever. Pretending to be happy and living a lie by day, and wallowing in my sorrow at night. But I think I like the idea of telling you better."

"Oh?" She smiled

"I love you." He said, grinning even wider then before.
