Nightmares
Kagome clutched her teddy-bear tightly into her hands as she stood nervously in front of Chikaru's room. It was the dead of night; the corridors were dark- scaring little Kagome more.
Her legs were shaking from the dreaded nightmares she recently had and also her ominous trek through the corridors. Even Oshibaru can't comfort her, so she walked to her upperclassman's room, in hope she would solace her.
Giving her teddy-bear a light squeeze, she knocked on her sempai's door.
No response.
Glancing nervously around the dark hallways so monsters wouldn't suddenly jump on her, she knocked on the door again- louder and this time.
No response, again.
She gripped her Oshibaru more tightly as fear started to crawl up to her. She couldn't take the foreboding silence in the hallways anymore; the way how someone could pull you into the dark any second and never bring you back. She doesn't like it at all. She knocked on the door again.
The door swung open, much to the young girl's relief.
"Kagome?" Their stood in the dimmed doorstep is a sleepy Chikaru, yawning and rubbing her languid eyes. "What are you-"
But before she could finish, the first thing Kagome did is flung herself into her. "Chikaru-oneesama!"
"Kagome?"
"Chikaru-oneesama!" Tears of relief streamed down Kagome's eyes as she yelled her name again.
"Kagome-chan, what's wrong?" Chikaru asked worriedly while motioning herself and Kagome inside her dark room and locking the door.
"Chikaru-oneesama! I want to sleep with you!" She pleaded, rubbing the running tears from her eyes and clutching into her teddy bear. "The nightmares were really scary- I-"
Before she could finish her incoherent statements, Chikaru hugged the younger girl tightly into her arms, patting comfortingly on the back. "There, there..."
"Oneesama..." The fear in Kagome suddenly dismantled when she felt her warm embrace.
"It's okay, Kagome-chan. You could sleep with me tonight," she whispered gently in her ears and then carried her to her bed in the dark.
"Arigatou..."
"It's fine," They laid themselves on the bed while Chikaru smiled at her and flipped the covers under them.
Kagome propped her head on a pillow, still clutching tightly to her teddy-bear. "Goodnight, Chikaru-oneesama."
"Goodnight, Kagome-chan." Chikaru closed her eyes and wrapped her gentle hands around the fragile girl, as if she's a doll that could break easily.
Kagome buried her face on the already-sleeping Chikaru's chest and wrapped one arm around her. The warmheartedness of hospitality between the two began to grow perpetual while it washed over the memories of the dreaded nightmares she once had.
"Thank you, Oneesama."
