Dear Journal..
Things haven't been the same lately. Itachi is always busy, and.. he and my father aren't getting along either.. They're always fighting and..
"Sasuke..?" A sudden voice questioned in curiosity as a dark figure entered the bedroom.
Sasuke Uchiha quickly glanced behind his shoulder and slammed the book he was holding shut. A nervous smile had now approached his lips as he slowly turned around to face his brother. That was.. really unexpected. But now Sasuke was pretending to act calm like nothing ever happened. Just hoping that Itachi had not seen.
"Y-Yes, Itachi?" Sasuke replied as he pulled himself up off of the floor, now dusting himself off.
"I just came to check on you.. You seemed a little upset earlier."
". . . . . "
"Is anything wrong?"
The younger Uchiha shook his head and faked a happy smile like he usually did. He was beginning to get used to that situation. It always worked anyway. At least.. that's what Sasuke had thought. But Itachi knew that his smile was not real.
"No. I'm fine. Don't worry about it."
"It's kind of hard not to, you're my brother."
"I.. Um.. I need to do some training! I'll be back soon!"
That's when Sasuke had raced out the door without even looking back at Itachi. He didn't even notice that Itachi was a little upset. Itachi had wished that his younger brother would talk to him about these kind of things. Was it really that hard? Even though Itachi put off training with his brother, he was there for him. Itachi began to wonder if Sasuke actually knew this. But then again, Itachi didn't know that it was about him.
Itachi's gaze slowly peered around Sasuke's room, before coming into contact with the male's journal. "No.. I can't do that. It's.. none of my business.." He had told himself. And yet he couldn't help but get curious about it.
He was about to turn around and leave the room. Unfortunately, his curiosity got the better of him as he reached down and grabbed a hold of Sasuke's journal that he had left on the floor. Slowly pulling it open, he turned to the page right before the last as he noticed a poem in his view. Itachi never knew he wrote poems. He didn't know.. much about him.. Did he? That's when he began to read what had been written down.
Please Don't Leave Home
Things just aren't the same anymore
You're so far away
Things aren't the same anymore
and my heart doesn't beat the same
I've tried to put it all behind me
But when you're so distant I just wanna say
Please don't leave me
Don't go
I'll do what you want
just please don't leave home
I know that it all seems tempting
but things will be fine
I forever will be by your side
And now you're leaving
and I think about my thoughts
The thought of you leaving home
and never returning
I scream out
but my voice can't be heard
All you do is smile
without another word
And now there's nothing I can do
Just wish that you will stay
That we can get along
and live another day
When he was finished reading the poem, Itachi's eyes slowly lowered to the ground. He felt weak inside. Sad. Depressed. It was a great poem. But.. to know that was what he had been thinking about. Him leaving.. Did Sasuke know about the Hokage's orders? No.. He couldn't have. Itachi had to keep it a secret. The day would come when he would have to destroy the clan. And as he stared into the pages, a tear ran down his cheek.
"Sasuke.."
