Prologue: The Promise
Looking at the sky I could only smile. It was so beautiful. And even better was the fact that I could look at it with her- my younger sister. Her bright smile along with that long blond hair flowing in the wind behind her. Those Big blue eyes looking into my soul and her creamy skin glowing in the bright sunlight. So beautiful. And so innocent. I turned to look at her and she looked at me with a loving smile. She called out to me with that sweet and soft voice of hers.
"Eva?"
"Yeah?" I asked ever so softly.
"Do you remember that night when I had that nightmare and I couldn't seem to stop crying?" She asked.
"Yeah, I will always remember that. It was then that your heath started to slowly fail."
"Yeah, that one. But I never did tell you what my dream was about, did I?" She stated.
I shook my head as a reply and said: "No, you didn't."
"Well, I always meant to tell you. I just wanted to wait." She said and turned her head away.
"Go on." I told her softly.
"You see, I have always been able to see things others can't. There are spirits all around us but only I can see them. It's not the only thing you should know about. I have been able see the future in my dreams."
"I know, and I believe you because I can see the spirits too. But no one believes us. They say we are freaks. No one likes us because of that." I said bitterly.
"Yeah, that's true. But what I have seen lately may change things. But back to the matter at hand. In that nightmare long ago I saw my own death and the moment when you would finally find happiness." She said looking at the starting sunset.
The sky was now orange, yellow and red. It reminded me of blood.
"But you won't die I will make sure of that. As long as we stay together we will pull through, right?" I asked.
She shook head and turned to face me.
"Not this time around. What I saw made me sure about one thing. The two futures are tied together. If I die you will suffer but at some point you will find true happiness. Not like what you feel for me, but something that will make you smile out of pure love not out duty for mom and dad."
"No! It's not like that! I lo-!" I started only to be interrupted.
"No, you don't understand now but someday you will. And you should know; I hate seeing that smile. I want to see the real you. So when I go be happy and find the one you love. Okay? Because I know he can make you smile." She looked at me in the eyes.
"How can you say something like that?" I asked tiers in my eyes.
"Because I have seen the future. I know and I love the sister that lives in the future that I see. So I want you to go and make me happy, Okay?" She smiled at me.
The evening had turned in to a night and the stars came out. Their sparkling gazes fell on us and witnessed my promise. Taking her hand I looked at her bright blue eyes.
"I understand and I promise to chase my own future even if it is only because of the promise I am making to you." I said.
"Good." She said and we started up at the stars.
`Now I can go in peace. Live my beloved sister. I will always be with you even if you can't see me. I promise.`
