One day, just before he left to the army, Max had asked him a question. He wanted to know, whether Jude had anything he kept in secret from Lucy.
Jude pretended to hesitate, then said no.
It was long after Max was already gone, when Jude found enough courage in himself to pull a small box from the very bottom of his closet. It contained his works; the pictures he drew just when him and Lucy got together.
There was Max on every one of them.
Yes, he had secrets.
