Warmth in a Frozen Land

It was a sunny, yet cold day in El Nath as always. A young Crusader had just finished up selling some of his wares at the local Free Market, content with the money he had raised. The cold had finally got to him, so he bought two, warm, Sweet Breads, which were famous for keeping a person warm in even the coldest of places. He wanted to hurry back up to Orbis, if he wanted to catch the ship back to Ellenia in time. But as he was making his way to Orbis Tower, something caught his eye.

His best friend was sitting on a nearby bench, bent over in gloom. They had known each other since their days as small children, on Maple Isle. As he got closer to her, he had realized that she was battered and bloodied. She looked up at him, her face scratched and cut. He had remembered her telling him that she was going to train in the deep parts of El Nath, where the werewolves reside. Things must not have acted in her favor.

She returned to staring down at the snow, which was stained with her own blood. He saw that she was shivering, which was understandable, considering the skimpy out-fits that were provided for girl Rogues. He gently placed his jacket around her and gave her the other loaf of Sweet Bread that he had. She looked at him, as if to "No" but he returned a glare and a smirk to let her know that he was okay, and sat down next to her. With small bites, she slowly ate the bread given to her.

While he ate his bread, he looked her over. Her blouse had small tears in it, exposing some parts of her bra and she had three large cuts trailing down her right arm. He reached into his knapsack and pulled out a roll of bandages. As gentle as he could, he wrapped her arm in the protective coverings and put small strips on the ones she had on her face. He looked her over once more, making sure that there weren't any cuts he may have overlooked.

He stared at her. Even while covered in bandages, she was still the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. He had feelings for her, feelings that were strong enough to last through eternity. If only she knew just how much he really cared about her. Being dazed at the sight of her beauty, he hadn't noticed that she was staring back at him, her magnificent, topaz eyes, shimmering against the soft white snow.

She gave him a soft smile, which made him blush a bright red. She giggled and nuzzled herself against him, which made him blush even harder. She hadn't realized it before, but he was very handsome; and quite muscular without his jacket. She had so much love for him. There was nothing she loved more than to see him everyday, his armor shining in the sun.

They stared into each other's eyes. He smiled that warming smile that he gives her every time they meet. Finally having built up enough courage, he leaned forward and gently pecked her lips. Her eyes lit with surprise. As their lips parted, she saw that he was the brightest shade of red, she had ever seen.

She gave another soft smile. She leaned back towards him, her eyes half-lid, and returned a long, passionate kiss; the one that they've waited all of their time for. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he propped her up on his lap; their lips not parting for second. When, they finally parted to catch their breath, they wrapped around each other in a warm embrace. Then he realized that he had missed his ride back to Ellenia. He shrugged. She was worth it.

Loving warmth radiated from them. Warmth that could melt even the never-melting snow. Warmth in a frozen land.
