Dusk had fallen and Koryu found himself pacing in a remote area of the park. Lamplight was beginning to flicker into being, slightly illuminating his features. Hair dark as night feathered across his brow, hiding the strange markings upon his forehead. Tall and slim, his form was also attired in somber colors with the only adornment being a patterned sash bound at his waist. A leather encased hand was fisted closed as he paused a moment to sweep his gaze around him.
'She's late.'
His free hand drew though his hair in a frustrated manner while expelling an exasperated breath. Years of mocking Kokuyo for falling for an angel just had to come back to haunt him. Never in all his years of serving Satan would he thought to abandoned his mission, toss it aside all for a girl. The irony was almost too difficult to swallow. Granted, he didn't quite have the balls to go after an angel master, but what he was doing now was a close second.
Footsteps echoed slightly on the path behind him and he turned slowly. His breath caught at her gently beauty. No doubt later he would pay for this stolen moment, but it was worth it. As she stopped in front of him, he reached out and grasped her hand and gently pressed the velvet box that he had been holding.
Violet eyes widened in surprise before looking down while carefully opening the case. In the faint light twinkled a simple jeweled pin crafted to resemble a firefly.
"Happy Valentine's Day Hotaru-chan," Koryu whispered softly.
