A/N: Mhm, Jelissa again. What else did you expect? XD Yay fer happy Jackson. This is so cheesy and lame but wow, I got the idea yesterday and it needed to be written fo sho. Gah, don't listen to me. It's 4 in the morning. Just read. Also, nobody looked this over but me so I apologize for any mistakes.

He Knows Better

Jackson is making a Grande Mocha Coco Frappuccino for a girl with red curls that are too bouncy and a smile that is too bubbly when she walks through the door. She looks beautiful as always, and he can't help but watch as she pushes a strand of hair as black as night behind her ear and holds the door open for a man rushing through with three coffees clutched in two hands. He almost doesn't notice as the cup tips over and flows over his hands, but the girl with the bouncy hair and the annoyingly bubbly grin clears her throat.

"Excuse me," she giggles, "My drink is kind of on your hand."

"Oh." He throws it in the trash, wipes his hand and starts again.

Melissa is sitting in a seat near the counter pretending she's not paying attention. Jackson knows better. The red-headed girl laughs and rambles on about nothing while he smiles and nods politely, but mostly he is just concentrating on the finishing the drink so he can talk to his girlfriend.

"She was flirting with you." Melissa announces as the girl takes her drink and flashes him one last smile. Melissa isn't pouting and he knows she's not upset, she's just speaking the truth. He wipes his hands on his apron and smiles at her because she is just being Melissa and he will humor her.

"Really? I didn't notice."

"You're such a liar." She rolls her big, dark eyes but she is smiling and even though he wasn't in trouble, he knows he is forgiven.

"What are you doing here?" It is a stupid question because she stops by every single Thursday after yearbook committee. She says it's because she has an uncontrollable addiction to his Raspberry Passion Tea Lemonade, but he still knows better.

"Why do you think?" She pulls out a crisp 5 dollar bill and places it on the counter.

"The usual?" It's a stupid, cheesy thing to say but he doesn't care because it makes her smile (and she is the only one around within earshot). After all, he is Cody Jackson and he has been working at Starbucks for the past 5 months. If he had once had a reputation to uphold, it went out the window the first time he tied the kelly green apron around his waist.

Or maybe he just didn't care anymore.

"Keep the change." She bats her eyelashes at him in a very un-Melissa like way and he laughs because she doesn't even know how much she amuses him. He makes her the drink and puts the change in his pocket because he also knows better than to ignore her requests.

"Thank-you, sir. Perhaps I'll catch you around sometime."

"Uh... yeah. Perhaps." He erupts in a fit of laughter and Melissa's wide eyes widen even more. In the blink of an eye, the Melissa he knows and loves is back and she is not quite so calm and collected.

"Jackson, stop!" She hisses, looking around the near-empty shop frantically. She is terrified that she will get him in trouble, and so even though his boss adores her she never stays more than 10 minutes. "I'm leaving now!"

"Melissa, chill." He is still laughing but she is already hurrying toward the door, plastic cup in hand, completely oblivious to how amazing she is. She pauses in the doorway and waves, sipping her drink and making him wish he had never learned what responsibility was.

But because of her he did and now he knows better, so he smiles at her as she turns to leave and goes back to work.

A/N: Hey, I warned you. Total fluff. Now pleasepleaseplease, review? :)
