So, this is my first Big Hero 6 fanfiction! The reviewers on my Robots oneshot told me that my grammar was a bit dodgy, so I tried really hard here. I got the idea for this fic after reading fics about Hiro having nightmares and Tadashi comforting him, but I decided to switch the roles round. Their ages here are more or less the same as the movie. It will be a oneshot for now, but I'll write more if people like it.
Also, I'm posting from my phone, so please forgive any small mistakes.
"M...Mummy?" Tadashi whimpered. He couldn't see anything, and it scared him. "Daddy...?" He didn't even know where he was. "Hiro? Hiro!" Wait, mum and dad were dead... Where was Hiro? Had the car crash killed him too?
He could see now... He was in the hospital, the middle-aged doctor standing over him.
"I'm sorry Tadashi," he said, "your mother, father and brother have all passed away."
No, this wasn't right, Hiro was meant to live... Where was he?
"H...Hi...ro..." Tadashi sobbed.
"Onii-chan? Onii-chan?! Tadashi, wake up!" Tadashi woke to find his younger brother crouched over him. It was all just a dream... Hiro was here... "Dashi, you were crying! Are you okay?" Hiro looked as if he might cry himself, tears forming at the corners of his chocolate-coloured eyes.
"It's okay, ototou," Tadashi reassured him, "it was just a dream." It was a lie- Tadashi was sweating and shaking like a leaf, but he didn't want Hiro to worry. Anyway, it had been 10 years since mum and dad died, so he didn't understand why he was so upset. They're gone, you can't change that, he told himself.
"Dashi, you're upset! Tell me what's really wrong, please!" Tadashi smiled at Hiro's use of his pet name for his nii-san. He must be really worried.
"It... was just about... when mum and dad died..." Tadashi sighed, pulling his duvet around himself like a cocoon. Hiro frowned, his brow furrowing. He crawled over to curl up next to his brother, giving him a tight hug.
"I wish I could remember them. I mean, I was there when they died." he whispered, wiping his tears on his brother's pajamas.
"You were only three, Hiro. Nobody expects you to remember," Tadashi told him, patting him on the head.
"Still..." Hiro muttered.
"It's been 10 years," Tadashi began, resting his head against Hiro's bird's nest of hair, "Mum and dad are gone, but we have each other, and Aunt Cass. We'll be fine." Would he really be fine? What if these nightmares continued...?
"Of course we're fine, Tadashi, you have me to protect you!" Hiro said with pride. Tadashi scoffed.
"I don't need my little brother to protect me!" he teased jokingly. "Now get out of my bed, you fat bonehead!"
"Nuh-uh," Hiro laughed, "anyway, you're the fat one, not me!"
Tadashi smiled along with him. He would be fine. Both Hamada brothers would protect each other.
