The first time he noticed how truly beautiful she was, it hit him like a sack of bricks. They were walking back from another job, the town they were in was half destroyed, and they had all but lost money thanks to him going overboard again. It was getting late but the sun seemed to be stalling in setting itself over the horizon. He turned to her, his toothy grin gleaming and a hand awkwardly placed behind his head, she was hunched over in defeat, no doubt worrying about her rent. "Sorry we didn't get your rent this time Lucy. We'll try again tomorrow okay? Promise!"
She perked up immediately, her shoulders straightening and fists pumping in front of her in determination. "You're right, tomorrow for sure!"
"Aye, sir! And we'll get lots of fish!" The blue exceed behind them had flown to the front of the group, facing them, now drooling in delight as he thought of the buffet of fish he would consume.
"I'll just be happy if we can leave without destroying everything in the process again!" She scowled, but it was a playful scowl. She laughed, glowing as the sun seemed to shine only on her, finally deciding to set for the day, and beamed her beautiful smile at the both of them as they walked. And for the first time, Natsu didn't care about tomorrow, he didn't want this moment to end.
Just a short drabble I did a while back. I'll be posting all my drabbles here so they don't take up too much space.
