"Do everything with so much love in your heart that you would never want to do it any other way."
~Yogi Desai
Sometimes, the Rain Guardian loved too much.
He gave everything his all.
For his first real love, baseball, he trained constantly and relentlessly, running and practicing until he was the star player of his middle school his first year.
For his second, swordfighting. He learned to balance out his love for baseball, and turned that into learning every inch of his beloved katanas. To be able to make them extensions of his arms, and they sliced so easily through every substance in their way. Yet he was also gentle, turning the blunt end to avoid killing if he can.
For his third, his Family. When he had finally accepted that the "game" they were playing wasn't really a game, and that his friends were indeed in true danger, he hung up his baseball cleats forever and dedicated himself to protecting him. To make way for his third love, he gave up his first. It saddened him, but his friends were always more important to him than baseball.
And for his fourth love, Gokudera, he was willing to even sacrifice his third love. While he would have been torn, he knew deep inside that he would have let even Tsuna die if he ever had to choose between him and Gokudera. He knew Gokudera would probably hate him for it, but he also knew that if he had the choice, he would save Gokudera.
This final love ended up becoming his undoing.
Gokudera knelt in front of the white marble that had the Rain Guardian's name engraved in fancy script.
"You stupid idiot. Throwing yourself in front of that bullet to save me some pain. It would have only hurt me; it killed you." Gokudera felt his voice crack as his punched the stone harshly.
"You didn't even let me say goodbye!"
The hot tears flowed down his cheeks, and he did nothing to stop them.
He had lost the person who had contained so much love in his heart that he would do anything to prevent anyone from being hurt.
Yet, by doing that, he had hurt Gokudera the worst of all.
