*For the sake of the story, I am imagining that Patrick is really who he says he is and he and Edith have unspoken feelings.

Sunrise Sunset

The church door opened as the organ began to play the guests stood up. The wedding party had all walked up the aisle as Mary entered on the arm of her father.

Her eyes met Matthew's as the distance closed between them. Their journey had been far from easy, but it was worth it.

(Robert)
Is this the little girl I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?

Robert remembered the day Mary was born. He paced with his father in the library waiting until Dr. Clarkson told him that he had a daughter. Mary Emilia Crawley was made in the image of her mother and grandmother. He knew his life was about to change forever.

(Cora)
I don't remember growing older
When did they?

It seems only yesterday that Mary was a baby in her arms, a toddler learning to walk and talk, a young girl eager to share the day's adventures.

(Robert)
When did she get to be a beauty?

Mary had always been a beauty but to see her grown and happy, marrying a man who she loved only made her only more beautiful.

(Isobel)

When did he grow to be so tall?

Matthew was the mirror image of her late husband, Henry would be proud of what their son had become. She could blink and see Matthew as a growing boy, not the man who stood in front of alter, ready to move to the next chapter of his life.

(Cora)
Wasn't it yesterday
When they were small?

The baby clothes and paraphernalia had been packed away for years, only to be brought out temporarily before she lost the baby boy just before the war. To hold a baby again would have been her greatest wish, but it was not to be. She would have to wait for grandchildren for that.

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze

(Women)
Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

(Robert)
What words of wisdom can I give them?
How can I help to ease their way?

After nearly thirty years of marriage, Robert wished he could provide some advice for them. But he couldn't, it was up to them.

(Cora)
Now they must learn from one another
Day by day

They would be moving to Crawley house in London after the honeymoon. As much as she wished they could remain at Downton, it was time for them to begin their own life.

(Patrick)
They look so natural together

It was not as if Patrick did not love his cousin, he did. But it was more like familial affection more than a romantic affection. With Mary was married, he was ready to move on. He looked up the aisle to Edith looking back at him. She had changed in a good way, he couldn't deny that the dress matched her eyes and she was rather fetching.

(Edith)
Just like two newlyweds should be

Mary had always been called the prettiest of the Crawley sisters, even more so in her wedding dress. Edith was now the only Crawley sister left unmarried. She found Patrick looking at her. He as handsome as he had ever been and their conversations were stimulating.

(Patrick & Edith)
Is there a canopy in store for me?

Would they either be standing where Mary and Matthew now stood?

"My lords, my ladies and honored guests, I am happy to present Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Crawley".
