Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Thomas and the Rumors" from Season 5. Enjoy and comment.

Thomas the Tank Engine enjoys working on his branch line.

One day, when he stopped at a small station on his branch line, he noticed some children. They were looking sad.

"They've closed our playground, and our favorite sandpit!" they cried.

"Teacher said the sand is soiled, and too dirty to play in." said a boy. "Can you help us, please?"

"I'll see what I can do." said Thomas kindly.

Thomas hoped that the children's problem wouldn't be too bad.

He passed the playground, where he noticed a large sign that read…

Playground closed until further notice

"The children were right!" thought Thomas sadly to himself.

He puffed into the yards, and was about to tell the other engines the news, when Percy rushed in.

"You look glum Percy." said Gordon. "What's the matter?"

"Sir Topham Hatt is using Harold to show a visitor around Sodor instead of using us!"

The engines were cross upon hearing his.

"Despicable!" said Gordon.

"Disgusting!" snorted Henry.

"Engines are meant to take visitors across Sodor, not stupid helicopters!" exclaimed James.

Later, Gordon was the first to see Harold.

"Harold thinks he can go faster than me, but I'll show him!"

Next, Henry saw Harold.

"Sir Topham Hatt choose Harold instead of me because he thinks Harold is way more special than me!"

Percy stopped at a signal on his branchline.

In a nearby field, some sheep were grazing.

Harold hovered for a while, then buzzed away.

"I know what he's doing!" thought Percy. "He's counting sheep!"

Percy then puffed away, feeling much better.

That evening, the engines talked about the situation.

"Harold wants to get rid of us!" said Gordon.

"He doesn't need tunnels!" added in Henry.

"He's only counting sheep." said Percy.

"No he isn't!" grumbled Gordon. "He's counting how many engines he can get rid of! He'll see how useful I am tomorrow!"

Thomas wanted to mention the children's playground, but Harold and the visitor came first.

The next day, Gordon was on his way to collect the Express.

"We'll show Harold how fast you can really go!" said his driver.

However, Gordon was too busy watching Harold, that he diverted onto the wrong line!

Trouble loomed up ahead! A tunnel was being repaired up ahead.

The driver applied the brakes, but it was too late! Gordon crashed right into the tunnel!

Later, Thomas managed to bring Gordon back to safety using the breakdown train.

Then, Sir Topham Hatt arrived. He was very cross.

"You should have watched where you were going!" he boomed. "Because of this, you have caused confusion and delay!"

"Will Gordon be scrapped?" asked Thomas nervously.

"What makes you think that?" asked Sir Topham Hatt.

"All the other engines think Harold is going to replace us all!"

Sir Topham Hatt laughed.

"You are all wrong. Never listen to rumors Thomas."

Then, Sir Topham Hatt introduced the visitor.

"This fine gentleman is going to build a new playground for the children! It was much easier finding a site for the playground in the air!"

"This tunnel sand will be perfect for the playground!" said the visitor.

Thomas was delighted.

Sir Topham Hatt still uses Harold to fly across Sodor, but the engines know that he is just being really useful.
