Mcgonagall

It had been a long day. Sitting on brick walls, listening to the hustle and bustle of this boring and extremely muggle neighborhood. I don't think Harry should come here one bit. Harry needs a home that will allow him to live a happy life, perhaps a life with a muggle family with a young witch or wizard. I'm sure that anywhere would be better than this. It's fortunate that I brought my book. I breathe uneasily, being a cat has its advantages but it takes its toll.

Dumbledore appears as usual. Without explanation or warning, perhaps he apparated but usually that creates a vacuum a few seconds before. He takes out a small, cylindrical object clicking it. When he clicks it one of the street lamps light flies towards the object and gets absorbed. He clicks it 12 times until all the light is gone on Privet Drive. I can only see because my eyes draw in every speck of light. Immediately he looks towards me and smiles, his half moon spectacles glinting in the moonlight.

He walks towards me as I transform. "Fancy seeing you here, Professor McGonagall. Have you been here all day? You should be celebrating!"

"Is it true headmaster?

Is he finally gone?"

"Yes." Dumbledore answers.

"And what of the Potters?"

"Gone as well."

My eyes reflected my sorrow as I recall the short, promising lives of the witch and wizard who had fallen to protect their child, the bane of The Dark Lord.

"What of the boy?"

"Hagrid is bringing him," Dumbledore replies casually.

"Is it wise to trust Hagrid with a matter as important as this?" My response was immediate, but not sudden.

"I would trust him with my life."

As the headmaster's statement concludes the sound of a muggle motorbike came reached my ears and lights appeared over the distant trees.

My eyes are certainly deceived as I watch the vehicle climb above the trees and descend before me, Hagrid behind lights.

"Hagrid, have you brought him?" Dumbledore asked with ease.

"Yes, little tyke fell asleep on the way." Hagrid retrieves the small child from the sidecar and hands him to Dumbledore.

"Are you sure headmaster? I have watched these people all day, they are the worst sort of muggles imaginable." My words were urgent, the child could NOT live with these people, "Every witch and wizard in our world will know his name!"

Dumbledore's eyes seem determined "That is exactly why we must leave him with his only family" He places the child on the doorstep with a note.

As Dumbledore turns to leave his ears meet with the sound of a crying child from within the house. Dumbledore gazes inside the home, only to be met with the sight of a young Dudley stuck beneath his presents. Harry is returned to the arms of the headmaster of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry before being returned to Rubeus Hagrid.

"Take him elsewhere Hagrid. Somewhere away from these neglectful family members."

"Of course, sir, but where?"

That's my cue, I think as I pipe up, "Here I have my book".

I hand the book to Dumbledore and he takes it from me with ginger care. He fumbles through the pages, scanning names of young witches and wizards".

"Hagrid I can take him" he says as he hands the book to me.

"The professor and I can take on the duty of finding him a more suitable home."

Almost the whole book has been gone through by the time we find one that both of us agree on, finally stopping on one particularly nice house. It belongs to muggle dentists who have a young witch named Hermione Granger.
