On a rainy Monday morning, Blaine Anderson was sitting outside of WilliamMcKinleyHigh School. He barely lifted an eyebrow when he heard the laughing and booing of his classmates.
"Why do you losers look so happy?" one of the football players yelled to Lima's resident dorks, more commonly known as the Glee club.
At this point, Blaine picked up his backpack and his jacket. He had only been at McKinley for two weeks, and already he was sick of hearing the Glee club get bullied every single morning. They actually seemed like the group he would've gotten into…before everything changed.
Blaine sat down in his first period history class. He was early, and was surprised to see another student already sitting in the classroom. Barely nodding to the kid, Blaine sat down on the other side of the room and started scribbling in his notebook.
"You're Blaine Anderson, the new kid from Dalton, right?" said a voice, making Blaine jump.
"Uh, yeah. That's me, I guess." He glanced over at the boy again, getting a better look this time. This guy was pale, like he'd never been outside. His chestnut brown hair was carefully styled upward. Upon further inspection, everything about him was careful. His voice, his posture, his questions…judging by the way the football players behaved outside, Blaine guessed this boy had felt way too many slams into a locker.
"I'm Kurt. Kurt Hummel. Welcome to McKinley." Kurt said dryly.
The bell saved Blaine from replying. Students poured in, talking loudly. Soon enough, the teacher, Mrs. Gray, got class started.
"Alright class. Today, we're going to be working on projects." The entire class, minus Blaine, cheered. "And, though I know most of you will make me regret this, I'm letting you choose your own partners." The students cheered louder this time.
Mrs. Gray passed out instruction sheets to everybody and told them to get started. Blaine sat back and glanced around. There was an even amount of people in the class. That meant someone would have to work with him.
"Kurt? Do you have a partner?" Mrs. Gray called across the room. Blaine lifted his head up just in time to see Kurt shake his head "no".
"Who else doesn't have a partner?" the teacher called to the class, and Blaine lifted his hand up. Mrs. Gray motioned for Kurt to go over to Blaine, which he did.
"Can we get this over with?" Kurt asked.
"Um, yeah, sure." Blaine stuttered.
What the hell happened to me? he thought. I used to be smooth, cool. Now I'm a freak.Blaine ran his hands through his short hair. At one point in his life, Blaine spent hours gelling his hair to perfection. Now, he just kept it long enough so it could be seen, but short enough so he didn't have to do anything with it.
Kurt gave him a weird look. "Just so you know, I'm not going to do all the work and put your name on it."
"I wasn't expecting you to," Blaine snapped, annoyed that this random boy just assumed he was like that,
The two worked silently for the rest of the period. As soon as the bell rang, Blaine picked up his books and hustled away. Honestly, he didn't know where he was going. He just knew he sure as hell wasn't going to second period science.
