INTRODUCTION
NOTE: This is my first fanfic after a two-year hiatus and I'm also moving on. As much as I would like to veer away from how Danny and Lindsay has played out in the recent seasons of CSI:NY, the vision of Danny making out with another woman has been drilled into my head and I can't get it out. The honest, sensitive hero is gone -- even in my imagination.
Meanwhile, down south in Miami, Eric Delko has made a 180° turn. From the playboy who sleeps with every woman at every opportunity, he's now patiently waiting for his friend Calleigh Duquesne to come to her senses and realize that they can't be friends anymore.
Enter first fanfic.

One of the things he looked forward to every day is walking next to Calleigh Duquesne in the middle of the glass-encased, labyrinth-like lab they both call home. He loved it when their arms and elbows brush against each other as they walk. He loved the way Calleigh speaks in her sweet, Southern accent, almost breathless as she spewed out the caliber of the pistol that shot their latest vic. He loved that Calleigh rubs his back in the elevator as they wait to get to the basement at the coroner's office.
It put him in a trance, almost. So severe that his world would stop having audio.
"Eric, are you listening to me?" Calleigh said with a smile.
"Sorry" Eric laughed "I kind of conked out"
Calleigh wasn't amused. She didn't get that it was because he was mesmerized with her. Instead, she asked "Have you seen your doctor lately?"
Calleigh seems to be asking that question a lot. More than Ryan, more than Natalia, more than Horatio even.
Eric dropped the smile. But still relished in her deep concern for him. "This weekend, I promise".
"Not good enough" Calleigh insisted as she walked out of the elevator "Right after this case wraps, I'm taking you myself."
"Yes, ma'am" Eric joked, as they made their way through the coroner's office.
"Honestly, you can be so hard-headed sometimes, I don't know what to do with you" Calleigh said as Eric opened the coroner's door for her.
"Is he ever" a woman's voice spoke from inside the room.
Calleigh and Eric looked up. A lovely Latina in blue scrubs had her hands on her waist with an amused smile on her face. She was the new ME who replaced Dr. Alexx Woods.
"Calleigh Duquesne, this is Eric Delko" Calleigh walked in, Eric behind her. "And you are Dr…."
"…. Elena Sanchez" Eric finished. Calleigh turned around. Eric had the same amused smile on his face.
"Well" Dr. Sanchez remarked "Glad that part of your brain's still turned on."
