Alfred F. Jones, the personification of the United States of America, angrily burst into the tent where a single man lay on a cot. "Mattie how could you do this?"
Matthew Williams, the personification of Canada, looked up from his book and raised an eyebrow "Do what?"
The superpower stomped over to his brother and yanked on the collar of his shirt.
"You know what. You withdrew"
Canada's head nodded "Yes I did, now let go of me"
America ignored him. "How could you do this Mattie? We're still working out peace with them. You can't just leave us hanging like this. Even the Italies are fighting, and they're next to useless."
Matthew pushed his brother away from him and straightened his collar "Nothing you say can make me come back"
Alfred backed away and sat down on the floor, he slumped and put his head in his hands. In that moment he wasn't America Hero of All, he was defeated, beaten. "Please Mattie, I don't know what I'd do without you. I'm going to have to take over your part too, and I don't know if I can do it. I'm already fighting another war in Iraq. I'm not sure how much more I can take."
The blond didn't take the bait. "That's your own fault for getting involved in these wars in the first place. You're the one who wanted to be the Hero, take responsibility. I however am not taking any chances. I've already lost 197 people. I'm not lousing anymore."
His brother was surprised. Usually his brother caved into him, but he pushed on. "Only 197 Mattie. That's nothing compared to what I've suffered, but I'm still going why can't you? You still have so many people left, you can do this"
That was the last straw. Canada snapped, and in an uncharacteristic show of temper he whispered "What did I tell you in 1774 Alfred? I'm not you, I'll never be you. Those are my citizens and I care about them. I can't just justify sacrificing my people because it's the 'right thing'. 197 people is too many. They had homes and families and lives. I don't want to louse anymore."
With that the blond stood up and walked towards the exit.
America didn't admit it, but the outburst scared him a little, he still continued though "But-"
Canada cut him off "No Alfred. And nothing you can say or do will persuade me otherwise."
Then he walked away.
I read in the newspaper today that Canada is withdrawing from Afghanistan so I had to write this
