-1987-
"Mommy? Where are we going?"
"I'll show you in a minute son, we are almost there."
Walking down the semi-busy streets, a mother had her hands wrapped around the son's eyes, blocking his vision. Today was a special day, and the mother wanted to make the most of it for her son. After a few minutes of walking, they came to a halt outside of a building.
"Ok...annnnd... ta-dah!" The mother uncovered the son's eyes, and the child squealed with delight.
"Freddy's Pizza! Awesome! Mom, you're the best!"
"Well? Don't just stand there! Go inside and have some fun! I'll be in there in a few minutes."
Smiling with glee, the child rushed inside with the mother hanging back, looking suddenly forlorn. Whispering to herself, "Today is the day, the day I lost you, I promise it won't happen this time. I won't let it." With that, the mother went inside.
Inside the restaurant was a buzz of activity, children running around the different arcade machines, while the parents conversed at the tables. The mother walked inside, smiled to the cashier, and payed for both her son and herself. Looking around she spotted him hanging outside Pirate's Cove.
"Yarrr! Hello there laddy! Want to be my first mate?"
"You bet Foxy!"
"Here ya go lad!" Foxy brought out a small pirate's hat and gave it to the child.
"Awesome, thank you Foxy!"
"Yo-ho-ho! Now you can come with me and sail the seven seas!"
The fox then walked around with the child in tow in his pirate hat. Pretty soon, others started running around Foxy and following him. The mother looked on smiling, yet also drifted her eyes to other parts of the restaurant. He's here, I know it, she thought.
"Alright kids, gather at the center stage to see Freddy and his band play!" The kids then left Foxy and started to gather around the stage to watch the show. After a couple minutes, the room got a bit darker, with all lights now pointed towards the stage. Freddy, Chica, and Bonnie all sat there with there instruments. Then they started playing their music for the kids enjoyment.
The mother continued glancing between the stage and other parts of the restaurant, frantically searching for something. Suddenly, in the darkness, she saw a golden hand sticking out of the 'Employee Only' area, beckoning to her son. She got up, and started making her way to the door. In a few seconds, the hand retreated, with the son following inside. She got to the door, and followed inside.
Once she got inside, she looked around only to find, nothing. 'No! I saw him! Where did he go,' she thought. Then, she heard it. Small voices coming from underneath her. After looking around for a little while, she found an open trapdoor, and quietly snuck inside. After walking around a bit, she started to hear the voices in greater clarity.
"...now that all of you special young people are here, it's time to get onto the main event!"
She stopped, scared, and slowly looked around the corner. There, she saw a man, dressed as an employee, brandishing a knife, with the children scared and in the corner.
"Aww, such scared faces... what's wrong? I'm a good guy! Just come here, and I'll show you."
The woman then brandished a knife of her own, took a slow, calming breath, and went around the corner.
"Okay, how 'bout we meet halfway, does that sound fair to you guys?"
"Sounds far to me," the woman said. The man turned quickly in surprise, only to have a long silver knife embedded into his chest. The man looked down in shock, only to go to his knees, gurgling blood. In a few seconds, the man lay there, dead.
"Mommy? Wha-what d-did you do?"
Smiling at her child, "I avenged you, my child."
-Present Day-
A sleek, black, 1967 Chevrolet Impala sped down the highway, humming with power. In the front seat, Dean Winchester drove with the precision that only he thinks he can pull off when driving his baby. His brother, Sam, sat next to him, looking at various articles.
"Alright, so we have multiple missing in Oregon, only remains were their teeth to show that they were ever missing to begin with. Several in South Carolina found with missing hearts, everything else was intact albeit with scratch marks. And we have one in Iowa, multiple people with clean records going insane the next day with no particular reason."
"All these sound good Sammy, what do you want me to say? Besides, it will take forever to get to these places from Texas."
"Right, I almost forgot of the large vampire nest we wiped clean. I almost thought it was a bad dream, the way they were dressed."
"I have to agree, it isn't everyday you find a vampire dressed just like a cowboy. Not to mention the entire town was modelled after an old western town. I was almost expecting Clint Eastwood to stroll up and shoot somebody." Dean shivered at the thought.
Chuckling, Sam said, "Heh, yeah, well let's go to Iowa, seems like the closest place anyways."
"That won't be necessary Sam."
Both brothers turned in surprise to see Castiel sitting in the back seat wearing his usual trench coat garb. Castiel looked at both brothers, "You may want to keep your eyes on the road Dean."
Dean turned back to face the road. "Shit!" he yelled as he swerved back into his lane, narrowly missing the guardrail. "Goddammit Cass! Warn me next time your going to beam down here, I almost had a heart attack."
"With your constant diet of bacon cheeseburgers, the possibility of a heart attack is quite high for you."
Shaking his head, Dean asked, "What the hell are you doing here Cass?"
"Someone has been changing the flow of time, and I need to find out who."
Confused, Sam said, "Woah, wait a minute Cass, we didn't see anything unusual. How do you know someone has altered time?"
"Turn on your radio."
Dean reached over and flicked the radio over to the closest news station. "...hey! For those of you just tuning in, we have some classic songs playing in a couple of minutes. But first, we have some words from our sponsors. Freddy's Pizza is now having it's 25th anniversary, so come quick and grab a bite to eat as all prices are now 50% off! Freddy's Pizza, where a kid, can have fun!"
Turning off the radio, Dean sunk a little lower into his seat while Sam looked confused. "Wait, I don't understand, we got rid of the animatronics in that restaurant. And plus, that place has been closed since..."
Picking up, Castiel said, "1987? That's why I know someone messed with the timeline. And both of you know the repercussions if this issue isn't dealt with immediately."
"C'mon Cass! We were going to go to someplace slightly normal for once! I don't want to deal with these goddamn animatronics anymore," Dean sulked.
"The robots aren't your problem, there is something... someone else behind this."
"Who?" Sam asked.
Looking deep in thought Castiel replied, "I don't know for sure, but the only people I know capable of altering the flow of time, are angels."
