I don't own Sherlock Holmes.

The Mentalist is inspired by both Sherlock and 'Now you see me"
Who doesn't love magic tricks?
Prologue
What is the most important thing to Mr Holmes?
His friends you say? Yes, I suppose you are correct in a certain way. Though his friends are far and few between, we have all heard the whispers, the rumours of the extents he would go to protect them. A man falling out of the window 5 times? Excessive? Yes. Effective? Most definitely. Mr Holmes' enemies learnt one crucial lesson that day.
Don't mess with those he cares for.
You see, if you get through the cracks in his mask and under his skin and somehow, someway, into that cold, calculating heart of his, then well congratulations.
You are now in danger.
Yet it will be the safest you will ever be.
Paradoxical isn't it? But it's true. Well you can't say now that your life's boring, can you?
Anyway back to the question at hand, maybe it's his family. Maybe. I have seen sibling rivalry before, heck I've been in one, but to call your brother your arch-nemesis its odd is it not? But the Holmes brothers are odd to say the least. How they both walk around London like they are superior to the peasants around them, that their intellect somehow allow them to belittle those around them. And yet when they meet, which is far too often for either of them to like, they are spoilt children. Competing and complaining about whose better at their little 'guessing games', who has the better job, who mummy loves more. Pathetic.
Sorry did that sound bitter? It wasn't meant to. Honest.
Well for some reason I would rule his family out, to a certain extent.
Well I still haven't answered my own question, but then again I haven't met him. And if I'm truthfully honest I don't want to meet him. Why? I have my reasons. But I'll meet him one day, or he will know of my existence in this world, but I've learnt how to avoid him and his Doctor. It's quite simple actually.
Don't be interesting.
It's harder than you think when you can do what I can do, but I manage. I cannot have Sherlock Holmes on my case. Otherwise everything I've done will be for nought.
But on his last case he saw something or heard something. I need to throw him off my scent, but if I trick him or threaten him he'll just get more intrigued and that is what I need to avoid. I need to distract him, latch his interest on something else, someone else. If only Moriarty was still alive, that would have been ideal. So.
What is the most important thing to Mr Holmes?
Easy.
His mind.
Leave me alone Mr Holmes, this will be your final warning.
The Mentalist.
