LILY IAIN FIC

The doors of the ED burst open as Jez and Iain entered with a patient from an RTC, Lily walked towards the incoming shocking Iain.

'What are you doing here'

Iain asked with a confused as he clocked the young doctor.

'Receiving your patient, now what have we got'

she snapped back, surprising both paramedics as this was a far cry from her normally calm attitude.

Lily took her patient into resus, leaving Iain Jez outside, Iain stared worryingly into resus watching the young doctor, he was worried she was overdoing it, he thought it was far too early for her to back, in fact he knew it was too early but she wouldn't hear of it.

Louise realised what Iain was staring at as she watched the paramedic run a hand through his hair with a deep sigh. She approached him and touched his shoulder causing him to spin around.

'Are you okay Iain...you seem stressed'

'Im fine Lou honestly it's not me we need to be worried about, its lily' he turned his attention back to resus watching Lily rush around.

'Ill keep an eye if it makes you feel at ease, I didn't know you too were that close'

'That would be fab thankyou, were just good friends though'

'Mmhmmmm' Louise smirked quietly.

The noise from iain's radio interrupted the pair, he spoke into it, then turned to leave, he smiled at Louise, shot one more glance to resus and caught Lily's gaze, she quickly looked away and he went to join Jez.

From inside resus it was a rush around trying to keep everything under control, Lily was the only doctor in there and she was more than relieved when Dylan and Zoe walked in to offer assistance. Lily took a moment to breathe outside resus as she knew it was all under control in there now. Her mind wandered back to Iain as it had been doing a lot recently, she had heard him in the hospital and now them words were spinning round in her head constantly. She strolled towards the vending machine and leanded against it, reading her patients notes.

'Alright chuckles' that voice quickly snapped her out of her trance as she looked up and saw the paramedic she couldn't seem to shake from her thoughts smiling warmly at her.

'Hi sorry for snapping earlier'

'Already forgotten but are you okay lily, don't you think..' his voice full of concern.

'Don't, please I've heard it from everybody already, I'm fine, im a fully qualified doctor and I know im okay'

'Alright chuckles, well dont over do it okay'

She held his gaze and smiled, there was so many things both of them wanted to say but just couldn't find the courage to do so at the fear of regection.

'Dr Chao we need you in here please' zoe shouted interrupting the brief moment of calm was enjoying.

She didn't want to move, around Iain she always felt so much calmer, she looked up again and smiled at him.

'I have to go, I'll see you later maybe'

'Yeah maybe, go save some lives chuckles'

She laughed slightly and walked back towards resus, iain watching her go as he always did, he kicked himself internally, why didn't he just ask her if she heard what he said in the ward after her accident, he needed to know after all if Lily had heard him say, 'I love you'.

Lily walked back into resus her mind completely on Iain, she signed deeply why didn't she just tell him she knew, or why didn't she tell him she felt the same after all the man she was so head over heels for had told her those three special words when he thought she was sleeping, 'I love you' was going over and over in her head like a broken record.
