Well, this is the story that won for my extremely late fifty-review special. Hope you all enjoy!

A small pony walked slowly along the borders of the kingdom she lived in. The pony was a small alicorn-like creature, but her legs and wings had holes littering them. The pony was a changeling, a creature that feeds on love. But there wasn't much love outside of Equestria. Years ago, the queen of the changelings attempted to take over the land, but was unable to due to one of the princesses. The changeling sighed, sitting down as her stomach grumbled loudly.

"I'm hungry..." She muttered. An older changeling, though not quite an adult, came and sat down next to her. He patted the younger's head.

"Beetle, there's going to be an opening in the defense system tomorrow. It happens once a month, at the same time every month." Beetle looked up.

"Really?"

"Mh, hm. Maybe we can both escape into Equestria?" He offered. "I've been watching the defenses for three months now."

"That's great. I can't wait to leave this place..." Beetle layed down, resting her head on the older changeling's shoulder. "Right, Slade?"

"Yeah."

"Should we bring anyone else?"

"I don't think we can. Two new ponies in Equestria would be strange enough. We can't risk bringing anyone else." Slade explained sadly. He too wanted to help more of the changelings.

"Oh. Well, okay." Beetle said, yawning. The sun was beginning to go down, but most changelings didn't have homes. "When are we gonna cross the borders?"

"Tomorrow. Just after sunrise, we'll be able to fly right up and over the wall. Then, we can copy two ponies and live safely, without fear of running out of food."

"Can't wait." Beetle murmured, falling asleep.

Beetle woke up first, stretching and flapping her wings slightly. The moon was still in the sky, the sunlight barely visible on the horizon. Slade was still asleep.

"Slade?" Beetle nudged the older changeling. "Slade, time to get up." Slade moved slightly, shivering and slowly getting to his feet.

"M'kay."

"Do you remember exactly when we can cross the border?" Slade sat back down, squinting up at the sky, then turning towards where the sun was beginning to peak on the horizon.

"Uh... a few minutes." He said.

"Okay."

Five minutes later, Beetle stood up, tapping Slade on the shoulder.

"It's been five minutes." Smiling weakly, Slade stood up and flapped his wings, hovering in the air, faltering quite a few times. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Just tired."

"Okay." Beetle said, taking off into the air after Slade. The older changeling landed on the wall surrounding Equestria. The guards on either side were too far away to see or hear them. They walked towards the other side of the wall, both flying down to the ground. They hid in the bushes at the bottom of the wall.

"Do you remember the spell?" Slade asked, feeling a little better.

"I think so." Both changelings horns glowed green, and their bodies began to change. For Slade, his wings began to disappear while his skin began to stretch over the holes in his body. Slade's eyes became orange, his coat a dark gray and his mane and tail becoming a light silver with a white stripe down the middle of each. He chose to keep his horn.

Beetle did a similar change, only she became a pegasus. Her eyes were orange like Slade's, but her coat was a very light blue. Her mane was dark blue with a light purple streak. Neither of them had a Cutie Mark.

Stepping out of the bushes, they began to walk further into Equestria.

"Halt!" Beetle jumped up, scared, and buried her head in Slade's shoulder. "Who are you two?"

"Uh... I'm Slade Stone, and this is my sister Blue Beetle." Slade said quickly. "We're orphans." The guard, a unicorn with golden armor, looked over the two ponies.

"Alright... but I'm going to have to escort you away from the border." He said.

"Yessir." Slade gave a small salute. The guard chuckled. "Beetle, come on. You need to walk."

"Okay..." She removed her head from Slade's shoulder, and looked forward, still pressed up against him. Beetle's legs were shaking, so Slade levitated her onto his back. The guard placed a hand on Slade's shoulder.

"You're pretty strong for your age." The guard said.

"Thank you, sir." Slade said.

"Please, stop with all the formal stuff. I'm just a guard."

"Yes- I mean, okay."

"Alright you two." The guard said. "There's a small town a few days east from here called Ponyville. You two should be able to find ponies who are willing to take in you two."

"Thanks again." Slade said, looking at the direction of the rising sun. Beetle got off of Slade's back, walking next to him.

"We're going to Ponyville?" She asked.

"Yep. We're going to Ponyville."
