Mary Camden sat out on the curb waiting for her friends Frankie and Johnny
to arrive. She had known them for six months and was living in an apartment
next to theirs since she had been kicked out of her family's home for
having pot in the house. She hadn't planned on smoking the joint, but had
smoked others and her parents knew it. They had forced her to go to Buffalo
to live with her grandparents but she had snuck home. Her parents sent her
back but she left again. Finally, her parents had tried everything and
told her that she had to go to Buffalo in order to have a place in the
Camden lives. She decided not too.
"Hey Frankie, hey Johnny." She said as she took out a joint. "You want one?"
"Umm, Mary, we decided to give that crap up. We're going to rehab. We were told last week that if we didn't we would never get Mercy back." Johnny said
"Oh, well then." She said taking a smoke of the joint. "I better go then."
BACK AT THE CAMDEN HOME:
"Hey Mom, I saw Mary downtown yesterday." Matt said.
"What were you doing in that area, honey!" Annie replied
"Well, I had to drop some medication a patient left at the clinic off. The live just past the 'town" Matt said
"Oh. How did she look?"
"Awful. She umm had a joint."
"Oh, well then. Set the table please." Annie said dodging the subject.
"Okay."
Annie looked into the air. Her daughter had been so promising academically just eight months of ago. Then the vandalism happened. And the pot.
